Thank God I am only four years from retirement because I can only see it getting worse.

To be fair, teachers are using AI to mark assignments. They can't be bothered to scrutinize every bit of work their students submit to them so they let the AI do the job. Hand writing is becoming an art form much like calligraphy. Most assignments where I live are paperless. Covid seemed to facilitate this process.

We, my friend, are from another time. The last of the Boomers. Myself, I am a bit of an anomaly. I liked family life so much that I did it twice. This weekend I celebrated one of my four daughter's grade 12 graduations. (Two down, two to go.) She just got her first cell phone. She's an honour student and will need it for university. I honestly have no idea how much work will be available for her by the time she becomes a software engineer. Most code these days is being written by AI. Perhaps she'll change her mind and go into something else. She does well in physics.

None of my daughters will have a cell/smart phone until which time they graduate or leave home. I don't own a single TV. Yep. I'm old fashioned. No apologies. I made them read physical books and use their brains. Consequently they are academic achievers. Nonetheless only two of them have legible penmanship. To say that we all want that fat paycheck is an overstatement but some are still eager to actually earn it. Alas, the problem is systemic and the future looks grim.

Summary of storage-related issues in KB5063878

1. The drive is lost from the OS (SMART cannot be read). The buffered tree may be accessible, but the files cannot be read.
2. Occurs when writing a large amount of data to a specific storage device
3. There seems to be a problem with the drive cache.
4. There is a high risk of file corruption when the symptom occurs.
5. The lost state can be temporarily recovered by restarting the device, but the same problem will reoccur if you try writing to the device again.
6. In our testing, the issue occurs when writing 50GB of data continuously to an SSD with a usage rate of 60% or more. There have been reports of similar issues occurring with HDDs.
7. In our testing, Phison's NAND controllers tend to malfunction, and even among the company's controllers, DRAM-less models tend to malfunction at low write volumes.
8. As with the HMB issue with the WD SN770, the symptoms remain even after limiting or deleting the HMB memory, suggesting a memory leak in the buffer area on the OS side

So, as an interim measure, Microsoft recommends manually changing the NDI Receive Mode to use either Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) or standard User Datagram Protocol (UDP) instead of RUDP. The tech giant has pointed to a newly published advisory on the official NDI website that shows detailed steps on how to proceed:

Download and install the free NDI Tools pack.

Launch the NDI Access Manager app.

Go to the Advanced tab.

Change Receive Mode to Single TCP or UDP, then press OK.

Repeat on any other affected computers.
