I booted up a laptop that I haven't used in a while. Turns out it is a 23H2 build.

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 23H2
Installed on ‎12/‎4/‎2024
OS build 22631.6199

I ran Windows Update and laptop is up to date. No option to upgrade to 25H2. Does it matter? :D

Specs:
Thinkpad x13
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10310U CPU @ 1.70GHz 2.21 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)

If your chip doesn't support the SSE 4.2/POPCNT instruction set, 23H2 is the end of the line. You should really upgrade from a 20 year old laptop if you want to run the latest version of Windows 11.

The easiest way is to just do an In-Place Upgrade, from 23H2 to 25H2... should take about 45 mins on your machine.

Use Option Two (ISO method)...

Yes, it matters. 23h2 is EOL and out of support.

CPUID-Z is a good way to check whether your chip supports the SSE 4.2/POPCNT instruction set.
