There was nothing wrong with Vista. There was a lot wrong with the typically low hardware specs that OEMs tried to run it on.
Microsoft should have made Setup check for minimum hardware specs and refuse to install on anything but the latest CPUs.
Surely that would have made a lot of customers happy.....

I never used OS 2.. But as I'm in to retro, i think i have to download it.

What i remember most is that Vista was the first OS that over time with normal office usage cold grow out of its on partition by updates only.
I remember a lot of people contact me to fix their computers as they had zero space left on C: so the system crashed.
I never used Vista as i was hooked on XP and ran that until EOL.. so i switched directly to win7 then.
Does win 10/11 still have the OS growing over time problem? or have they fixed it with a cleanup program or that win update clean out old files to stop the OS from growing out of its partition?
(I mean so non-tech people dont have to lift a finger, it fixes itself so to speak)

The unrestricted growth of the WinSxS component store was first addressed in a 2013 update for Windows 7. It's been a part of Windows ever since. It can be invoked by running Disk Cleanup and clicking on 'Clean up system files'.

I forgot to grab win10 keys.... I have a bunch of win7/8.1 home,pro,enterprise keys.. i did use one key to a clean install of 10pro and then activated 10 with a 8.1Pro key.Me too, went straight from XP to Win7.
I did use Vista briefly once though, seemed nice enough. It was one step on the way to upgrade from XP to Windows 10 while keeping all installed programs and user files.
It went: XP>Vista, Vista>Win7, Win7>Win10.
