Not for general circulation, Rod.

You can purchase special minted ones, but depending upon the exact coin, you can easily pay upward toward 1K dollars.


I have a few from the 1800's, but they are purely investment coins/dollars. The last year solid silver dollar, half dollar and quarter dollar coins were minted for general circulation in the U.S. was 1964. Dimes (10 cent coins) in 1965. I have a few of each of these as well, but again, investment only.

I really have no idea, Rod. Just hang on to them. They will not lose value.

I do know that a person, should exercise caution when venturing into this market. There are lots of fakes, and dealers that will take you.


I stay well shy of it in general. I am certainly not knowledgeable enough on the subject to become a heavy investor.


...Real estate is more my game. ;)

Thanks, these were just ones my uncle had we found when he died, I am not a coin collector just interested. I used to order and buy 1 dollar bills from our post office to send for postage when I was doing amateur radio as a lot of the poorer countries would only send a qsl card if you sent postage money, stamps were not much use but everyone it seemed wanted US dollars

If I am entitled to one, I have to be very careful when I have it, it has to bee about half way between my bi-monthly infusions. With the Covid booster I had to book and to go to the clinic at a set time as by the correct time for it our local doctors had run out
