I use both Edge and FF. I got into the habit of only using Legacy Edge for my sensitive financial sites. MS did claim it was the most secure browser ever. For general browsing I used FF to keep the cookies/data completely separate.

There are some sites that Edge doesn't do well with like Walgreens, the pharmacy where I get my meds. I use Chrome for that site. Edge doesn't seem to consistently like Walmart, either. So, I use Chrome. I used to use FireFox years ago. They made some changes I can't remember but remember I didn't like, so I switched to Chrome. Then, I switched to Edge.

Yep, and when I get arbitrary about what I recommend, I step back and tell my students to use what they like best. Thing is, I haven't done enough work with Chrome and Edge to be fluent in their ins and outs. :cautious:

I avoid Chrome, it seems to be something of a memory hog, and I'm not keen on Google knowing my every move. It's bad enough just having MS watching me :D

These days all browsers are pretty good - so stick with what you like. I like FF mainly for its ability to have pinned tiles of my frequent sites on the new tab page. Mine has 4 rows of 8 tiles each....

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

These days all browsers are pretty good - so stick with what you like. I like FF mainly for its ability to have pinned tiles of my frequent sites on the new tab page. Mine has 4 rows of 8 tiles each....

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

Wynona has been up to her proverbial derriere in alligators of late with medical issues. Nothing to be alarmed about, but still, things have to happen with a surgeon. Seems like I've had appointments with every doctor in Arkansas!

On top of that, I have Windows lessons to prepare, genealogy homework to do, two student's computers to clean install Windows 10/11 on and just finished setting up my new Brother MFC J4855DW INKvestment Tank printer. The cheap Epson I bought a few months ago (until I could find what I wanted) went to Cyndi.

Since my students all opted for moving to Windows 11, I've had to create new lessons. :(
