Yay, there is wet stuff falling from the sky.
I am not sure about the UK, it always was for an "A" class licence which was my main interest apparently you don't which is half the reason it is dying out, soon it will as easy to get as a cb licence was, as without these tests and exams it has all become very poor.

I had three lines and three phone bills two for the BBS and one for the house. I did not run Windows as it would not handle two BBS lines I also ran OS2.

Do you have a noise ordinance? You might check into that.
It is the electronics test that gets most of them.
Over here it has been greatly reduced over the years to just multi choice questions, I took 2 city and guilds exams and a morse test and before that it was a full written exam and morse test
