    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

looks good it is a hybrid system where you use the grid as a backup when solar and batteries cannot supply power to the house I do not know what your usage is so cannot comment on the size of the system I have about the same solar panel's wattage as you 7 kw and will be adding another 6 kw to my system mint is not a hybrid system is an off-grid system only, no grid back up at all. What was your quote about 20K I am guessing?

When you said 'worn' I had at least expected to see some tread. That one went below our legal minimum long ago. Anyone here in the UK with 4 tyres like that could loose their driving licence if caught....

The legal tread depth for tyres in the UK is 1.6mm throughout a continuous band in the centre ¾ of the tread and around the entire circumference of the tyre.....

....If you are stopped by the police and your tyres are found to be below the legal tyre tread depth limit, you can receive 3 penalty points on your driving license and be fined up to £2,500 per illegal tyre....

.... if all four tyres on your vehicle are found to be illegal you could be fined £10,000 (£2,500 per tyre) and 12 penalty points on your driving license.

I think that is a fair price I was thinking that was for 3 batteries, batteries are very pricey over here at 1.5K each I priced the inverter and panels at about 5K. I have the equivalent of 10 of those batteries in my system I use 15 KWH during the night here but that is used by the ACs which you do not have and is a fact of life here.

Do you have a south-facing roof? Unlike a generator solar panels come with free fuel you just need to store it when it is available. look at your electric bill and see what your monthly usage is.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

My monthly usage for these months is 1134 KWH. You will be if you have a South facing roof over paneled which is good you can expect 80% of the wattage from your panels on a good day to generate 5 hours of power to charge the battery and power load. You need to change some habits I think to be using your appliances during the peak of the sun day in order to use the solar that is being generated. Solar panels generate power if you have enough light to read a book so you will be generating power when it is over cast.

A good while to go yet, Problem is we can't use the gate to the woods, so I will be taking the dogs in the car most days, so not about much
