Hi folks
On W11 Pro and latest FF I needed to get a paper pdf print statement of bank transactions from a UK bank (Barclays) for Income tax submissions. I know we all hate the dreaded income tax - but as an independent freelancer I have to do this type of stuff with various EU and UK banks !!!. I'm NOT saying Barclays is any better or worse than any of the others - just that these banks should test most typical Browsers - and plenty of people use FF still on Windows. !!!

The Bank needed some weird thing called pinsentry and identity -- from the phone app -- OK that was no problem - and then it asked for the 8 digit code from the phone app (OK nothing wrong although annoying the 2 stage security stuff) with 2 boxes on the computer app.

Firefox would only allow 3 numbers on the ist box and 4 in the second so of course it failed.

I tried with EDGE and it worked -- so there is still problems with forms on browsers if people developing web sites don't check or test -- mind you Banks are notoriously problematic when it comes to software. !!!

I agree with things like paperless statements etc - but it shouldn't be such a song and dance to get the pdf versions -- it's amazing the tax authorities actually accept these now instead of having to send shoe box loads of paper to the tax office. !!!

Cheers
jimbo

The 'pinsentry' device can be obtained by contacting Barclays & they will send it by post.

To use the device, you need your bank card associated your account.

I've been using the device with FF for years (I don't use the Barclays app) and I've never had any issues using the two together.

@IanMosley

The problem is I don't want or need to use the physical device -- also they'd have to send the thing to me outside the UK !!- and that would take quite a long time to arrive assuming it's not "intercepted by customs" as a weird hacking device !!!!!!!.

The "pinsentry" option is available on the Barclays phone app so you don't actually need the physical pinsentry device !!!

All I wanted was to get a wretched bank statement !!!!! shouldn't be that much of a problem !!!!

Check you disable any ad blockers you might be using since these can often screw up such entry fields in a web browser. I have no problems using the Barclays site using Chrome, Edge and Brave.

I tried Edge which was OK !!! only FF on Windows --- funnily enough it was OK with FF on Linux -- so might be something in the FF latest update on Windows or some of the default settings might have got changed via update.

Anyway @Steve C problem solved but thanks
