Thanks; although I already had an earlier version of microsoft_visual_c, I went ahead and downloaded the one you suggested. However, it made no difference, still get the same error. And no desktop icon, etc.

That's all I can think of as your error I encountered on a new installation of Windows 11 and the visual fixed it. i think you now need to go into reg edit and delete the keys and start again, as the software is very solid.

For clarification:

1. When you say the software is 'very solid', are you referring to Windows 11, or to Logitech's Setpoint software?
2. Should I uninstall the existing (nonworking) Setpoint app before or after deleting those two registry keys?

Later news: I seem to have stumbled on a workaround.

Was playing around with the Windows 11 Start menu. Found a reference to ‘Mouse and Keyboard Settings’ with the Setpoint logo, went to the File Location, found a shortcut icon with the same title. The file location was ‘C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Logitech\Mouse and Keyboard’

Opening this shortcut as administrator brought up the Setpoint app display, with all its options shown. Not sure why this workaround did the trick. Still don’t have an icon on the Desktop, but now have one pinned to the Taskbar. Never did delete those Registry keys. ‘

I meant the Logitech's Set point software is solid. Glad to see you have got it sorted

Odd. I just got the notification for 1.44.415778 lol. Seems as if I am a bit behind. And that 778 version had the Manual Smart actions ability too.

But as soon as it was installed, it showed another update waiting....

Options+ will no longer load on my Windows 10 machine...

I lied! All is not good!

Settings won't ditch the default setting and apply my choice!!! It holds both and applies the default when pressed!!!

Opened it up and it was already downloading.

Glad to see Smart Actions are backed up (and wonder why they previously were not lol)

Odd. I opened Options+ and in Settings it showed an update waiting to be installed, with a update and restart link. I clicked it, and went about my business as it updated.

After 15 minutes I hadn't seen it start back up, so I manually started it - and got the main fuchsia window with a spinning circle. Killed it, ran it again, same.

I had to kill all the Logitech Updater and Logi Updater tasks in Task manager, and then Options+ would start normally - but it shows I'm updated now.

Ah, well. All's well that ends well.

I had a problem that lasted several weeks. Scrolling didn't work with the Logitech M510 mouse when the laptop was first booted. After I logged in I had to power the mouse on and off to get scrolling working. Pulling and reinserting the dongle also worked. It seemed the problem went away a few days ago. I don't know what fixed the problem. Was it caused by Windows or was it Options+? I guess I'll never know.

Or perhaps an updated USB driver?

I've seen that in the past with Logi stuff though. But not only Logi stuff.
