I just got a notification for an update for the LogiTech Options software. It took me to this page:

Going to join and see what they've done to change things in Options now.

Never had either of these problems. But I got the confirmation for the new product and the download already.

Although, in the confirmation email there is this little gem....

The Logitech customer care team is not ready to provide support yet, but you can always email logioptionsplus@logitech.com for any questions or issues with Options+.

Like I said - doesn't happen here. Only time I get a pop-up is when there is an update.

However, I just remembered something, and I may have enacted this for that very reason years ago.

In Task Manager --> Startup tab, there are 2 items for Logitech - LogiOptions.exe (which I've always left enabled) and Logitech Download Assistant (which I've always disabled on all clean installs for ... years).

That disabled download assistant might be the key factor in why I don't see it. Like I said, the reason I disabled it is hazy, now, but somewhere back in the reaches of my cobweb-infested gray matter, I want to say it was expressly because of this popup thing that I got fed up and disabled it.

Give it a shot - of course, YMMV, as with all things.

Like I said - doesn't happen here.

Like "I" said, it happens here. It's also a well documented issue on the net.

Anyway, if there's a newer (non beta) version than what I have I'll update and see how that goes.

Thanks.

Logitech Options+ FAQs: Logi Options+ (beta)

Release Notes: Logi Options+ Release Notes

Product Info and Specs: Product Info & Specs

Getting Started: Getting Started - Logitech Options+

However - tried to run the installer. If you don't hit the install button fast enough, the UI becomes un-usable, with all of it except for the button disappearing and providing no method of interaction.

And I mean really fast - wait over 2 seconds and it's dead.

It's installed now, let's see what's what.

OK. Screenshots!

After getting it installed, this is what it looks like. (All screen captures were taken via Snip & Sketch on my 4K monitor with 150% DPI Scaling, so they may look a little bleh. Sorry, didn't notice until after I had made them)

And, finally, Options (no plus) stays installed, but shows you this if you try to run it and your device it attached now to Options+)

I have to say, I like the layout a bit better, especially the button information ... tags. I never even knew there was a speed setting for horizontal scroll, but it is clear as day that it is there and set to 50% for my MX 3.

For now, I'll not be trying Flow, as I don't know of a way to get it working on ChromeOS, and it's a bit too resource intensive for sharing with my Work laptop, for which Microsoft's Mouse Without Borders works perfectly fine for.

At least I got it installed, though. :lmao:

I use Flow occasionally when I have my laptop next to the desktop It works OK, but I find that it's better for me if I set it to require CTRL pressed to scroll to the other screen.

I have even used the laptop powering both of my desktop's monitors for three screen fun

I went exploring to find the perfect AIO solution that would work across all OSs (including ChromeOS, which is currently THE limiting factor). With the MX3, it's not so bad, as I have 2 additional Logi micro-receivers plugged, one into each ChromeOS laptop, and I can pair with up to 3 receivers on the mouse itself, so I can switch.

However, being able to use the single mouse and KB a la Synergy / MWB / Flow / so many other apps would be fantabulous.

If I decide to install the Options+ on the work laptop, I'll give Flow another shot. Not gonna lie, though - MWB is really, really easy to use. And the old Synergy was, as well, though it was much more CLI setup. I know there is a fork from the 1.x Synergy project, but I've not actually played with it, nor Multiplicity, nor a few other apps.

I have too many Logitech devices ...

I'm only using two devices these days my Desktop and laptop, (not including the three Android Phones, Three android tablets and several Wi-Fi media devices :plead: )

I have my MX Master 3 and my MX Keys connected to the Desktop and laptop which allows Flow to operate and includes the MX keys following the mouse automatically

There is also a connection for the Mouse and Keyboard to my main TV so I can manage the TV without relying on the remote for text entry Etc

I also have a K830 Keyboard, The one with the track pad, next to the sofa which allows me to control the Desktop ( I'm a lazy B ), and I carry a Logi T630 Ultrathin Touch mouse in my laptop bag I also have a few other Mice and keyboards from Logi as they are basically unbreakable

I also have a wired Mouse and keyboard in my go bag as I've been caught out on site more than once where I couldn't get into the Bios on a fritzed PC

On top of this lot I have five Unifying Dongles spare

BTW I'm not on the Beta program for options as it does not support some functions I use, like horizontal scroll in chrome etc

I already uninstalled the regular options, but I'm pretty sure I changed that when I tried it. maybe not. But I'm assuming that you mean the Chrome App specific settings, and using the horizontal wheel for horizontal scroll?

If so, The βeta Options+ most definitely let's you customize even the Chrome application specific settings - and for the horizontal scroll wheel, horizontal scroll is an option.

97.png

Laying out the steps for anyone reading this thread (I'm pretty sure you know this part Barman).
  1. Add Chrome App specific settings.

  2. Click on the Horizontal Scroll Wheel setting.

  3. In the menu that slides in from the right, pick your poison.

I have too many Logitech devices ...

I'm only using two devices these days my Desktop and laptop, (not including the three Android Phones, Three android tablets and several Wi-Fi media devices :scream: )

I don't have a Logi KB, not since my gen 2 G-15. Now I'm on a SteelSeries Apex Pro.

Probably one of the reasons Flow is not as beneficial to me.

I see ya jumped on-board the Options+ train!

Whatchya think?

I was just going by the information in the invitation to join the Beta program I may take a look, they did say they would be adding the missing features over time so they may be working faster than I expected

Yeah. I just got the notification for Options+ but apparently it's been around for a while, with builds going back to May. So defintiely possible that info may be out of date.
