Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7167 is the last version to receive feature, compatibility or bug fix updates.

Will future security vulnerabilities be fixed?

Yes, security patches will still be provided until 1st January 2024. After that date we will no longer provide any changes to the v8 Free code base.

Can I continue to use Macrium Reflect Free?

Yes, you can continue to use the software in perpetuity, your license to use the software is unaffected.

Will Macrium Reflect Free have any new features or updates for future Windows versions?

Macrium Reflect Free v8.0 supports Windows XP SP 3.0 up to, and including, Windows 10 & 11 version 22H2. There will be no new features or support for later Windows operating system updates.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

Doesn't sound a whole lot different than them retiring V7. I still use V7 on a couple of machines, and haven't seen an update for a long time. Maybe Macrium is gonna give birth to a V9 soon! :giggle:

I have one payed in regular W11 and Free in Insider Dev in same PC so there i can use payed one to back up both but in W10 laptop I'll have to find something else.

Used older boot-media in the past ...........never problems with them , they restored for 100% always ! (y)

I think this may be a misinterpretation.

The table below implies Reflect V9 is on its way.

They are probably just saving costs freezing the free version, and will possibly issue a new version after V9 is issued. Even if they do not issue a new version, they do not say the "frozen" version will not be available but they do say it will not support future versions of Windows (but I bet they patch it if it transpired it did not work on V12 - reputation is always important).

My guess is they are going to upgrade versions more frequently to increase revenue. Not exactly a lease model but sort of heading in that direction. Not surprising in these tough times (especially as UK based).

The version change would be an ideal time to declare End Of Life for the free version. There will be countless free users that, having used it for years, would likely upgrade to the paid version as it is relatively inexpensive.
