I think it's beautifully ironic that the muck-up caused by Microsoft (possibly, but not clearly) in an attempt to interfere with the use of Chrome has brought forth a suggestion from the Malwarebytes people that it could help to make Chrome the default browser.

Bug fixes:

Fixed a bug where clicking the “Check for Updates” button in the tray context menu would open the UI, but not initiate an update check.
Fixed window not restoring to correct size after being closed.
Fixed application crash when the X button is clicked.
Fixed error message appearing when user shuts down/restarts computer.
Fixed Scanner page being empty in the scenario where a Scheduled Scan would complete before the UI was first opened.
Fixed Scan Scheduler layout issues in languages other than English.
Fixed a rare crash on application startup, caused by an error in Windows Notification Center functionality initialization.
We don't have a definitive solution for this yet, as this rare crash was introduced by a Windows 11 update, so for the time being, if this error occurs, we will fall back to our Custom Notifications that are also used on any OS below Windows 10.

I bought MBAM so far back that I got a lifetime license. Back then it was only a handful of dollars, and I haven’t regretted it a second. The only problem I have had with it is that some time ago it blocked an MS encrypted Excel file where I keep passwords. No message was given and nothing in the log. After some trial and error and temporarily stopping MBAM I could open the Excel file.

This problem was corrected pretty soon and after using MBAM for a couple of decades I have noting but praise for this awesome gatekeeper!

A little advice, be sure your lifetime licenses are listed/linked in your my.malwarebytes.com account and the email is one you can always access.
Makes it easy to manage the licenses when something goes wrong with the computer and you can not deactivate before repair/format.
Have seen many issues with users who can not access or do not have the my Malwarebytes account and cannot provide proof of purchase
