I'm slightly ashamed to admit that's what I have been using for years. I don't keep it active, just using it to scan at odd intervals. So far, it has only found a few PuPs (potentially unwanted programs), which aren't serious malware.

Additional clarifications

- it reverts if you do not buy a licence
- main restriction is it can only be used offline i.e. it no longer provides online protection (this is how free version always worked in the past).

You can get the update right away by clicking "Check for updates" in Settings > General. Or, it will be automatically installed if you have automatic updates enabled.

An interesting note: I was interested in the posts on this forum this morning about UpdateHub and WingetUI, so I downloaded and extracted the files of both (didn't install them) and ran them, and BOTH said there was an update for MBAM available from 4.6.8.311 to something like (I didn't write it down before getting rid of all the software stuff and leftovers) 4.6.8.380. But repeated checks for updates in my MBAM programs revealed nothing. Maybe I just have to wait until later today, hmmm? 🤷‍♂️

I have no idea what you're looking for, but there's no problem with MBAM. After startup this morning, I checked again for updates and got the usual every-day db update, but no version change. NOTE: I was only looking for a version change because two separate update programs (UpdateHub and WingetUI) said I needed an update to 4.6.8.38? (didn't write down the exact number, and those programs are both history now).

I'm just assuming those programs were incorrect, until proven otherwise, and I'm up to date. But I'll check a few times today.
