My Malwarebytes recently updated itself to the release version to General Availability (GA) v5.1.4.112-1.0.1233.
All seemed well and good until I went looking at MY SUBSCRIPTION. It listed someone called a Ruth Shea with an address of j********[email protected]. I was expecting it to show my name and email here, I'm sure it always did before.
It still says "never expires" as before and all the other upgrade numbers look correct.

Can I confirm I'm not being scammed in any way.

I am guessing you did not buy it directly from Malwarebytes.
Where and when exactly did you buy it?

FYI, the previous version did not show the email address.

The sooner you reply, the sooner I can assist and tell you how screwed you might be.

I got it through a D/L from cleverbridge in 2013 and have never had any issues with it before.

The prog seems to be running well It's just the MY SUBSCRIPTION that has worried me because of the name change.
I don't have the original email from cleverbridge but do have a paper copy and its ref: number. This must be all valid as I have had and still get the updates.
Maybe I just never noticed my name wasn't included before either.

But was it purchased directly from the Malwarebytes site by YOU? That is the important factor here? Cleverbridge is a billing agent for many.

For all users who did not buy their licenses DIRECTLY from the Malwarebytes site many years ago, Like this poster, it seems to have been sold by a reseller like myself.
I have 500+ licenses out in the wild I sold to my clients but they were purchased with my company email so my email is showing up on their computers now.

Hello Porthos.
I got it through a D/L from cleverbridge on 6th October 2013 and have never had any issues with it before.
Then a few days ago it updated to (GA) v5.1.4.112-1.0.1233. Malwarebytes Premium
Originally I made a single one off payment by PAYPAL [never expires] via cleverbridge to comcast.
All the previous updates since 2013 have been received and updated correctly.

Should I get in touch with Comcast and or Cleverbridge.

Again Cleverbridge is just a payment processor for Malwarebytes and many other companies.

It does not matter because the license was sold to the following.

Comcast or Cleverbridge can not assist you.
Malwarebytes might not assist since it was sold /licensed to the above person and you have no idea who that is.

Go to the bottom of the page. On the right side launch the AI Chatbot

Since you cannot log into your Account, select Manage Account and Billing

Then tell the AI Chatbot you want to create a Support Ticket

Then when it asks, select Unable to login to my account

Then fill in what issue you're having to connect or login to your account, etc.

The AI Chatbot should create the ticket for you.


You can use ANY email address where you can access the email account

Thanks for your help Porthos.

Everything works well with the Malwarebytes premium on my pc, it has the latest and correct GA numbers. It has kept up to date since 2013 and I have made only one "for life" payment then. The only thing now is It says comcast in the payment details where before I thought it had my email address.
My understanding is that I purchased it from Comcast who are an American international telecoms company.
As no money has been taken since 2013 and everything seems to be correct for the latest dashboard update maybe I'm worrying over nothing.

Out of interest I'll check my historical Paypal payments and Comcast then see what Malwarebytes have to say as I would rather have my details and not comcast in my payment details or...............
I just dump everything and start MBam again.

See if support will assist. If not you will be out of luck. The license is showing it is either being used by someone else or you reinstalled it without deactivating it first at some point.

Following your posts a few back I went down the route of the AI chat on Mbam I followed a similar route but ended at where it said I could change either email or name in the Billing. I'll have a closer look and maybe speak to them as if it is all ok I don't want to fubar it and end the lifetime of the never expires.

If you can prove to support's satisfaction it is yours and legitimately purchased from an authorized reseller then you will be ok.

Note there is a difference between data stored in "My Subscription" and "Billing". One is me the other is a Reseller, I've just never noticed this before.

Just been into the Mbam Billing which DOES have my name, address, email, amount paid, date, acc number so all seems to be good but I will still speak with them first just to make sure.

Do you mean the my.malwarebytes.com account? If so then is the lifetime license listed there under subscriptions?

@Barnaby44 I had a similar problem as yourself with my Lifetime Licence which was purchased in 2013 thru Cleverbridge. Used it for years with no problem. It only came to light when I updated from version 4 to version5. It now showed a German guy as the owner. I raised a ticket and it was speedily resolved. I think the problem was caused by the fact that I had an ID and Key for it. Support issued me with a new key and problem resolved. I would suggest you do as @Porthos suggested and raise a Support ticket.
