Lenovo Legion Windows 11 22H2 ISO

So after trying a ton of things I have finally found the problem. It was referenced here in this microsoft post by Nøströmo180924609. He mentions deactivate the network card (Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller) in the device manager. This literally stopped the popping on my audio tracks. A reminder, I am using a usb mixer and ASIO drivers on Windows 11. Unreal. I will probably never ever be able to listen to that Daft Punk - One more time song again. It's literally bled my ear and its the only song that its easy to hear the pops while playing back.

This proves how complicated it is to troubleshoot PCs even with same hardware! I have the same Realtek Network adapter and it is not causing any problem! It's lucky and great that you finally found the cause as I know many who never figured out what was casing audio drop-outs and had to return their PC or simply live with it! Now that you have found the hardware responsible for your problem maybe you can revert some changes you did and see if it stay the same!

Generally for professional audio it's better to have a pro workstation laptop as gaming laptops are not the best choice for such tasks.

@rezpower are you running the same laptop?

I'll be working on this further this weekend. The realtek adapter has a bunch of green energy garbage settings to save energy that maybe causing the issue. It could also be Lenovo engineering. I also made a ton of changes while trying to fix the issue using PowerSettingsExplorer. Last change I even disabled the virus/firewall etc.

This is all Windows 11 bs. I have been Djing live for 2 decades. Mixer is the same, app is basically the same. Started with windows XP, then Win7, then Win10, and now Win11. Never had a latency issue. The jump for 7 to 10 was because the software required it. Windows 11 is a pos. In the last few days I have come up against so many latency issue threads including core parking to save energy threads. Apps like processLasso and unpark core etc. MS makes $hit worse. The way they have integrated the virus protection including anti-malware is a nuts. They are taking race cars and handicapping them with all the telemetry and power savings garbage. This is something no one should have to experience after buying a 2k gaming laptop. I get why people stick to Apple. I'm a power user though, and not a fanboy. MS is more concerned about tracking you then building something solid at the end of the day.

The money you spent for this Windows laptop would buy you a far inferior MacBook. Everybody knows that Apple products are overpriced, almost twice or third times their actual worth. Also you can install Mac OS on a Windows laptop with some advanced hacking. It's called a "Hackingtosh".

No I am using the late 2022 model which has almost same hardware but 12th Gen CPU and RTX3070Ti.
In your case if the problem is the network adapter then you are all set. You have found the culprit and all you need to do is to disable it when you want to mix audio. You can even write a script which will disable the adapter each time you run your audio software and re-enable it when you quit the software. Also if this is the case you no longer need to keep the modifications and tweaks you did (as they maybe degrade or brake some other functions). For me the problem was from having dual GPU running (i-GPU + d-GPU) and disabling the d-GPU in vintage or Lenovo toolkit would fix the audio problem.

On the subject of Microsoft or even MAC as @spapakons mentioned I would say that both OS working perfectly fine when making right choices. Buying a gaming laptop as powerful as it may be is not necessarily suited for audio or graphic PRO work as these PCs are optimized for gaming and not for work. The opposite is also true! A powerful workStation is never going to give you a good gaming experience. I personally bought a powerful HP Elitebook workstation with Quadro GPU and it really sucked when gaming! But that same old laptop still handles my DAW better then the new 3K euros gaming laptop.

There is also one important thing that you should take in consideration when talking about MAC: The OS is written and destined for limited few PCs that are released each year while Windows OS is going to be installed on hundreds or thousands of different hardware combinations and brands. Looking at it this way I would say that windows is magically stable!

@rezpower question, after importing your lenovo audio performance plan, I can see the power plan when I check via the control panel/hardware and sound/power options under hide additional plans /Legion Audio Performance. But I can't see the plan inside of the Lenovo Legion Toolkit.

Inside of that the power plan shows the stock Quiet / Balanced / Performance / Custom

So that leads me to ask, which power is in real control?

This is normal. Legion toolkit has only the default legion plans. If you want to work with audio, then you have to select that power plan from control panel. But as you mentioned Legion toolkit also has a Custom plan. You can import the audio plan in the custom mode and use it from there.
But my advice is to use balanced mode to keep laptop cooler and not waste energy. Select the Audio plan only when you want to mix audio.

Edit:
Just to add that if you open/run Legion toolkit or if you have it set to start with windows (I have disabled "Auto run" in settings) then it will set your windows power plan to the ONE you have selected in legion toolkit "Power Mode". This will be your windows default power plan. If you change that to any other plan, then that plan will be the default. Then you can change plans with FN+Q. I have left mine on Balance in Legion toolkit and I switch to audio plan from my audio software.

I have made a script that will automatically change to audio profile when I run my audio software and as soon as I close that application it will switch back to the original plan.
Here is the script if you like to take a look: (all you need to do is to save it to a text file, and change the extension to .bat
Of course you have to change the path to your own audio software.

@echo off
for /f "tokens=4 delims= " %%f in ('powercfg /getactivescheme') do (
set ACTIVE_SCHEME=%%f
)

powercfg /setactive 2ff9268e-2a8d-4561-9d04-adc439890552
