Listing of Windows File Search Tools

Everything is very fast. It benefits from indexing while Windows Search indexing is slow.

Turning it off entirely could potentially cause some unwanted side effects, as the Search Indexer may also be used by other things besides the Windows Search feature. Generally, a better choice is to remove all locations from the list of what gets indexed by it or, alternatively, selectively remove some (or many) locations from this list so as to significantly reduce the number of indexed items.
