Its a new PC asus s16 24gb ram, it replaced a dell xps 2020 that died
On the dell and a really old 2014 asus i had win 10 on them and when i went to the screenshot dropbox folder it would load quickly with my view setting of arranging it by date

With this new pc when i go to the same folder it shows it arranged by name and then when folder is fully loaded after about 5 sec it switches to arrange by date, if i leave the folder and return to it it does the same thing

The folder is about 2gb but never had a problem on the older windows machines even if it was 3gb

Guesses...

1. The Desktop Dropbox App has changed. Corrupted or needs updating.
2. Windows Defender is repeatedly "scanning" the Dropbox folder, thereby causing the slowdown.
3. You may need to do this to the Dropbox folder...

Personally, I just deal with my screenshots one at a time and use them in a post or save them in a pictures folder on a storage drive. Items #2 and #3, may still cause slowdowns even if you store them in a local folder.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?

Are you arranging by "Date" or "Date modified"? The former will cause Explorer to read the metadata for every file to see if there is a "Date taken" field. The latter will just sort by the system last write time, which is much faster.

#3 solved the problem, it loads instantly now
