Hi,

Some OEM apps allow you to install to other folders other than Program Files, Program Files (x86), and Program Data; others do not give you this option and are installed to these folders.

Is there any way to move these folders - Program Files, Program Files (x86), and Program Data - off the Windows boot partition to a user defined one?

The ones that allow you to install to a partition other than the Windows boot partition - on my system - are

Sometimes the option is well hidden, but it's usually there.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
I also have some programs installed on D:\Data drive as it is 2TB while the Windows/OS/Boot drive is only 512GB. It's difficult to move as other things have to be done such as creating Start menu items, copying support files such as .dll to the appropriate place in Windows itself and creating Registry entries so Windows knows how to use the program.

The Registry is made up of 5 text files called Hives and program installations may create entries in one or all of them. I have had to it a couple of times transferring one computer to another but the success was because I had both machines side-by-side and anytime I tried to run the program and get an error about a file not being found I could copy it from the first and place in exactly the same place on the second. It take awhile.

The only ones that I'm interested in are -

Adobe Reader DC x64
EasUS Screenshot v 1.0.1
WinZip Pro v 26.0 x64

I've raised support requests on each of these; I will post back when / if I receive replies.

I know 7-zip doesn't have an option for where to install.
Out of all the programs I use... I think that's the only one.
Well, Bitdefender doesn't have the option to install elsewhere either.

As others have mentioned... I wouldn't try moving Program Files, Program Files (x86), or Program Data.
Doing so would break a lot of file paths.

Adobe & EasUS have provided information how install on a non-Windows partition.
Winzip (- Corel -) say its not currently possible, so I've raised an enhancement request

@Ghot: Just a note for the use of OP: 7-Zip has a portable version you can put anywhere you like, and the portable is indistinguishable from the installed version, but without the clutter in the registry and on the C:\ drive. My "installation":

"D:\Utilities I\7-ZipPortable\7-ZipPortable.exe"
