Hi all,

Strange behaviour from my system today.
I locked my machine and when I went to unlock it, noticed that the text on the lock screen was in a different language.

First French, then Chinese....

I've tried fixing it under Region settings in Control Panel, but no dice.

I can't reinstall Windows, so what can I do?

Many thanks,

Casey

I'm very glad system restored fixed this issue for you. However, know that SR does not always work to fix a problem. In fact, SR does not always complete successfullty. If you value preservation of your data, most every member here strongly advise that users develope a regular backup plan that can always save you if you get into trouble either with data corruption, loss, or hardware failure.
There are many, many posts on this forum regarding imaging software and options available to you., even step by step tutorials on how to use some of the applications. You can use the advanced search feature to find threads about it.

Thank you all for your input.

It seems to be a bug in Windows Spotlight, per this Reddit post.

I've switched that off for now, and my language has reverted to English.

Until next time I need help fixing something,

Casey

Same thing happening to me since a few days ago... First it started showing me some Slovakian language (I think), then Chinese. My main language on Windows is English.
