LOL, Userbenchmark suggests against Ryzen 9800X3D even though it crushes Intel in gaming.

I guess UserBenchmark really doesn't like AMD Ryzen CPU's.

If you are a gamer, and you aren't already on the 7800X3D, this new 9800X3D is the chip to be on.
If only they ware actually available to buy at non-scalped prices...

Yeah, you always have to deal with the weasels and the scalping. People need to be patient and not buy from the scalpers and they will stop doing it. But if they buy a $500 CPU and somebody else will pay them $1,000 for it, it's just going to keep happening.

I do see it's in stock at my local microcenter. I'm not ready to upgrade from my 5900X yet.

UserBenchmark definitely has an anti-AMD bias. It's true in their graphics card listings as well. It Nvidia all the way for that category.

While I do lend a little bit of credence to their graphics card reviews, based on personal experience with AMD and Nvidia cards, I am a little uncertain about the AMD vs Intel CPU fight as I don't know enough about the new AMD offerings to have an opinion.

I just upgraded to an Intel i7 13700KF a couple of weeks ago and I have noticed that it absolutely slaughters my old 5800X, so I am pleased with that.

When I see the 9800X3D working in real life and see some valid bench marks, I might formulate an opinion. For now, though, I am not feeling too badly that I went Intel.

I found a couple of other websites that do comparisons between CPUs/GPUS, etc. I don't know if they are more reliable then Userbenchmark, but they offer another glimpse at the big picture. The results from these sites compared quite closely with my own benchmarks.

Yeah, i'd expect around a 20% uplift on the CPU alone, plus you got 16 cores, versus 8. And if you weren't running DDR5 on the 5800X, that too would make a difference.

I don't think most people really regret going one way or the other. I have a Ryzen 5900x myself, it's 4 years old in a couple of months. I certainly could get something faster now, but I just don't need it. The only game I am currently playing is CoD BO6, on a 2k monitor with my frames locked at 140. My box does that in it's sleep.

I use my PC for a lot more than gaming, I run a bunch of VM's and such on it. So, i'm way MORE concerned with multi-threaded and higher core count performance than I am gaming performance.

But If I used the PC for just gaming, boy the results on that 9800X3d look absolutely outstanding.

Yeah, i'd expect around a 20% uplift on the CPU alone, plus you got 16 cores, versus 8. And if you weren't running DDR5 on the 5800X, that too would make a difference.
Overall, my benchmarks are about 60 - 67% better than the 5800X, so I am really pleased.

I don't do a lot of gaming either. What I need is compile and rendering speed, and this new CPU does it in spades.
