Look at all the place and people trying to hack my computer (snapshots). I am trying not to call these crappy countries names, but they would take us and our country down and are bad... we are suckers... for not kicking butt..
This was the problem. Microsoft got hacked... again.
This article has been edited, by MS I assume, to make it look like MS was the hero.
They were not. They were the failure.
If folks keep letting MS "hold" their important items (of any kind), they will keep getting hacked.
The reason: Microsoft is a prime target for hackers.

Store your important things on an external hard drive. That's the safest place to store things.
Large external hard drives, these days, will fit in your pocket. So even in case of fire, earthquake, tornado, hurricane, just stick it in your pocket and... run like the tax man is after you.
Here, for example, is a modern day, 4TB external hard drive ($180)...
And before you get the idea that things like Google are safe... they aren't.
Google is a prime target too.
Unless you're trading stocks in the billion dollar range or happen to have 17,000 bitcoins, etc., no one (hackers), cares about YOUR computer. Now clicking on a link that is for a Nigerian prince asking for monetary help... is all on you.
That and similar scams are your own fault.
The rest is you storing your valuables on other people's (companies), servers.
Unless you "have to" for some business reason, storing your important data on some company's computer is just... dumb.
Especially if the place you store it is on a computer, that IS a prime target for hackers.
