Looking for a simple image viewer - and it doesn't appear to be Photos...

The ONLY problem I still have with Faststone is on Windows 11 - in the folder pane, the text is a very pale grey that's almost unreadable against the white background. On my Windows 10 system the text is black. I haven't been able to find a way to make the text black - I've asked in their forum.
goto Settings, the Thumbnail tab, and at the bottoms is the setting to change the color on the Folder Tree font or background.

After all the recommendations, I went back and looked at Irfanview and Faststone. I like Irfanview for some things, but once I decided to really dig into Faststone, and eventually got almost all the things I want to work working...

The ONLY problem I still have with Faststone is on Windows 11 - in the folder pane, the text is a very pale grey that's almost unreadable against the white background. On my Windows 10 system the text is black. I haven't been able to find a way to make the text black - I've asked in their forum.

I'm going to pull down and install some of the other suggested tools, but at least I now have Faststone configured so it'll do a decent job.

Thanks again!
It could be that I have Windows 11 in dark mode, but I don't see any pale text in FastStone. It's all very readable.

Ah, so it's not that Windows 11 is in dark mode. I found the color adjustments.

No, it was me... I only went through every panel of the settings 8 and 46 times and looked right at the thumbnail colors and NEVER looked below them at the clearly marked section with the colors for the folders.......

Thanks for the help. I'm gonna play with a couple of these, including XnView, but at least I've got Faststone working now.

No, MS haven't 'finished it off', it's just your Windows Photo Viewer that's broken. Mine can open some very large jpegs, my largest .jpg being 30,000 x 17,078.

Yes, Photos is a terrible viewer. As others have offered alternatives I'll add mine. My other photo viewer is Irfanview.
I LOVE Hieronymus Bosch! I did a paper on this triptych, The Garden of Earthly Delights, when I was an undergraduate for my Humanities II course. There's a book of all his art I've been eyeing for a while now. It has descriptions and critiques of each piece. It's also a leather-bound hardback book. Very nice...

Hi folks
Try picasa

It's being replaced by Google photos (not very good) but this version still works.

Used to use it but I'm using Adobe Bridge (included with photoshop) however.

Cheers
