lost audio/sound after updating to Windows 11 22581.200 Beta Insiders

@Dav - See my post right before yours, I already tried that. The problem was actually created by Windows 11 Build 22581.200, updating to Build 22593.1 earlier today restored the sound.

@Almighty1 I missed the part when you said it was a Dell laptop you were having the issues with. I gave you the details of my desktop where I used the pal1000 fix - worked perfectly as I said.

On my Dell laptop I have not had any sound issues with any of the builds, including 22581.1where I just Windows do its thing and install what it wanted. I do not use the Dell updates for anything other than the BIOS/UEFI update - otherwise everything is what Microsoft provides in its builds.

Your Dell laptop could have a different Hardware ID since remember 22581.200 had the problem but as soon as I upgraded to 22593.1 earlier today, the sound was working again and no matter what I did including uninstalling and replacing with Dell's 8991.1 driver or using pal1000's package v6.0.9215.1 (I used this because 6.0.9200.0 is the minimum that Windows 11 support needs and I wanted something that is a known good sounding version before I upgraded to a higher number good sounding version which in this case is 6.0.9316.1 and then manually updating the software components to the latest from MUC and getting the audio driver to 6.0.9316.1 from MUC as that version had better sound, it still works fine. As for hardware, remember Windows can be picky sometimes and even if your Dell laptop was the same model, the components might not be 100% the same since I know my model has different revisions of the motherboard as some has only 4 screws for the fan while others have 5 for example. Windows Gadgets & Sidebar was also not working in 22581.200 which also works fine in 22593.1. But in any case, unless you had the exact same Hardware ID, it will not be the same since I already mentioned mines is a Intel branded sound hardware that appears to use Realtek drivers but it also has a Intel SST (Smart Sound Technology) Audio Controller and Intel SST OED devices under System Devices in the Device Manager that unless it is working properly (one or both has a yellow exclamation mark) would also result in the sound not working which you probably don't have because you have a genuine Realtek sound controller. More details on Intel SST is in the thread below and the generic Intel SST drivers do not work:

Also, one other way to tell is it the audio driver or if it's the OS is when you goto volume mixer and look at the system volume and if it's a driver issue, you would still see movement of the bar when there is audio playing that starts from the left side even if you muted the volume but if it's a system issue then there would be no sound movement on that bar because it's not receiving any signals to send to the output as that acts like a sound level detection meter for the input sound as the realtek is responsible only for the output of the sound detected by the system and if it's not detecting audio signals coming it, it has nothing to send to the output either.

If you read post #19 here, lost audio/sound after updating to Windows 11 22581.200 Beta Insiders carefully which was before you responded originally, I already stated I fixed the problem so others no longer have to provide tips to fix it and how it was fixed so the issue for me was actually Windows 22581.200 that caused it, 22593.1 which was released today that fixed it. Usually in System -> Sound > Volume Mixer, if the system detects input sound, the bar will have a meter moving even if the sound was set at 0 or muted but if it doesn't, that's a OS level issue as it has to detect the sound first before it can output sound. Thanks for trying to help though.
