I just updated MR from v8.0.7690 to v8.0.7783 and now I see a boot menu when I switch on my computer. If I select the option ‘Macrium Reflect System Recovery’ then ‘v8.0.7783 Windows RE 11 Build 22621 (64-bit) [UEFI]’ loads where I can select images on an external SSD for recovery. I now see a 704MB ‘Recovery partition’ on my internal SSD.
I have recreated my external SSD rescue media (to v8.0.7783) in order to have a second method to enter the recovery environment in case the internal SSD (where the recovery partition sits) fails.
Question - This external rescue media (updated to v8.0.7783) still loads but can anyone confirm if the ‘Restore’ method works from external rescue media with the new MR version v8.0.7783?
It should work that way but you'll have to test your specific installation/hardware to make sure it's working properly. But remember if your boot drive dies and is not accessible this option won't work.

After I updated MR to v8.0.7783 I forgot to plug-in my external SSD containing the existing recovery environment and when I selected 'Create rescue media' it created a recovery environment partition on the internal SSD instead because there was nowhere else it could. My mistake. I thought it was weird when it asked me to reboot the computer after creating the RE.
I intend to remove the 'MR System Recovery' option from the boot menu and then I will delete the recovery partition on the internal SSD.
I'll report back on success (or not) just in case helps others who make this same mistake.
........................................ Update: I deleted the second boot option and it worked. No more boot menu and recovery partition gone.
Macrium REFLECT DOES NOT CREATE Recovery Environment partitions... it creates BOOTable WIM images that are based on either existing Recovery partition resident WIM images or creates it from from a selected download.

External media always works
Adding reflect recovery to boot options also works you just don't need a flash drive with recovery but you should still create it.
Updates can screw the boot option up.

Second that. Having that external bootable in a drawer is just that extra bit of security that keeps a minor glitch from becoming a major headache. I like the Macrium Reflect System Recovery option, too, but often when something awful enough to justify restoring an image has happened, I don't want to boot into the internal system; I just want to run the restore from the USB stick.
