Hello Macrium users, I need help. It is a very minor issue but little things like this obsess me.

Since the last update 8.1.7544, at startup, 2 screens now open up; the usual one and the new blank monitor one.
I have looked for an option to stop the Monitor pane from opening but I haven't found it yet.

There is a version mismatch as well.
There are no options referring to the Monitor on their site or in the application, and I have gone thru all of them.

I do not see what is in your MR settings? You may have to redo your MR Boot Rescue Menu with 8.1.7544 and Not 7.1.7387.

I did an uninstall, this time choosing to remove everything.
Ran WiseReg cleaner and double-checked for leftovers with BCUninstaller.
Re_installed, re_updated and it opens normally.
I am still unsure of the monitor screen or its origin.

I have never seen that Monitor subscreen when I've opened MR. Only thing that occurs to me is the MR UI watcher. In Autoruns, I see this at startup/logon:
Reflect UI Macrium Reflect UI Watcher (Verified) PARAMOUNT SOFTWARE UK LIMITED C:\Program Files\Macrium\Common\ReflectUI.exe

Have you by any chance turned that monitor off?

I have exactly the same effect - I get two Macrium windows on screen and on the taskbar. I asked about it and they didn't seem to understand.
The main annoying thing with this extra REflectMonitor screen was that it didn't close down if you tried to close it from the toolbar after closing MR programme and couldn't be closed from Task Manager
