Mail? You got no mail program.

Ok so I have this issue when I try to right click a file > sendto > mail recipient I get the error pictured. All of my defaults are set correctly and I have no idea what is going on. So I installed Windows 11 Manager to circumvent the issue and create an "email" context menu item wherever I wanted but after I created them, the "email" context menu item doesn't appear on any context menu although Windows 11 Manager shows it's there (see additional image). If you have any ideas on how to solve my problem I would appreciate any help that you could offer. Thank you. -Izzy

I know nothing about windows manager, but have you created/checked an association with email in the Default Apps Settings page?

Hello antspants and yes I have. The "default apps" section of Windows settings is complete and correct.

That’s annoying.
I have had this in the past, and with email. So my fix was just not use it. Which is hardly helpful. I think I had the issue because I had outlook installed and it was preferring Windows Mail, regardless that I had similar settings to what you show above.

I have seen it before. A customer had setup a little Excel spreadsheet to issue invoices for his business. When he tried to go at File->Sent by email (don't remember the exact path), he would open Outlook for that. One day Office was damaged, so I uninstalled it and installed another version without Outlook. I had setup his e-mail on Windows Live Mail and I had made it default. But when he tried to send an invoice via email from File -> Send by email he got this annoying message that there was no email application. Looks like Microsoft tried to force us use Outlook, not very fair. The fix of course was to install the proper version of Office that also had Outlook so he could send the invoice using Outlook. I bet in your case you have to do the same, install Outlook, or you have to ignore this annoying error message and manually use whatever other email client you want.

Agreed, I just open my email program and attach afterward but it’s a pain. These shortcuts are great while they work but they change your entire way of using a computer if they don’t. Thanks antspants.

@Try3 - Yes, I've tried it with jpeg, pdf, docx and txt files but there is no response when clicking on 'Mail recipient'. :( @Edwin - Thanks. I checked the registry and 'Mozilla Thunderbird' is the 'Data' value in both Current User and Local Machine.

And we have a winner! #30 worked and I really appreciate the help wiganken. Now I can rest comfortably until the next Windows thing that happens that will bug the sh*t out of me.

Well the high I was feeling has faded back to the cold, hard reality. The above happy moment does work but it only takes 1 attachment with it. I just tried sending 9 and the sendto > email option only attached the last image. I have read through all of the relevant items from wiganken and found no additional help that would help with this issue. So....what else ya got?

I spoke to soon. I have no "sendto>mail recipient" option whatsoever. I just did an in-place upgrade of Windows 11 and although its supposed to be there it is not.
