Is is possible to set up EDGE now so that new tabs go to www.google.co.uk.

It seems now you can only go to www.google.co.uk when EDGE starts, but one you press a new tab, search is always moved to BING.

I really detest BING as it is useless for technical searching - I am really not interested who is winning the Watch Paint Dry shows.

Not very technical if you can't navigate the settings menu in Edge

I've also set Google default search in addy bar and Bing stays default in the page search bar. Also just posted in the Browsers & Mail forum on Edge to set Home button to chrome-search://local-ntp/local-ntp.html . So when you open a New Tab click on the home button and it opens err a New Tab with google as default. Not ideal but it works. Two clicks instead of one.

Hmm - only a partial solution - search bar at top is still BING.
In the end, I might just ditch EDGE.
That's a shame. I find Edge to be a pretty good browser. I'm running the Dev build. It's too bad Microsoft makes it so difficult to change to the search engine of your choice if you can even accomplish it.

I think I found that fix.

Go to settings -> Privacy, search, and services ->scroll to the bottom where it says "Address bar and search" -> Change it in there

I change the "Search engine used in the address bar" to Google and then changed "Search on new tabs uses search box or address bar" to "Address bar".

Hope that what you're looking for.

OK - sorted it - I also had to change the default search engine buried deep in settings menus.

So I now get google on address bar and on new tabs. BING - "Blimey, It's Now Gone" !

No, they certainly don't. I like the Bing page when you open a new tab using the "+" icon, but that's just so I can see what's happening in the world. If I click on "Home" or use the address bar, it pulls up Google, which is my preferred search engine as well.

No, they certainly don't. I like the Bing page when you open a new tab using the "+" icon, but that's just so I can see what's happening in the world. If I click on "Home" or use the address bar, it pulls up Google, which is my preferred search engine as well.
Your solution is better than even using extension which I have now deleted. BING is history !

Not very technical if you can't navigate the settings menu in Edge
Edge is trying it's very best to make this very difficult for the average user, they probably have one tech assigned to hiding this the best they can.

They probably do. Still, I like Edge more than Chrome for some reason.
