I am getting persistent/multiple errors in the event viewer, “ModernDeployment-Diagnostics-Provider”.

Autopilot.dll WIL error was reported.
HRESULT: 0x80070491
File: onecoreuap\admin\moderndeployment\autopilot\dll\dllmain.cpp, line 128
Message: NULL

I have been able to determine it deals with the Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant.
Description: Enables user sign-in through Microsoft account identity services. If this service is stopped, users will not be able to logon to the computer with their Microsoft account.

When I disabled it, I incurred additional issues related to logging into Microsoft apps such as Edge, Store etc. However, the error went away. Needless to say, I set it back to manual.

The error is also generated every time I open a Microsoft App.

I also performed windows repair but it didn’t solve the issue.

SFC nor DISM are reporting errors.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

You are definitely not alone in this issue. There are threads about it across the web. The best I can tell is no one has found a solution as it is not affecting everyone. I checked my event viewer and do not find any. This is one of many threads out there regarding this issue in Windows 11 and it is even bugging some people running windows 10.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Event viewer can help with the diagnosis & repair of faults for which there are observable symptoms.
The existence of an entry in the Event logs is not, of itself, sufficient reason to think that there is a fault that needs fixing.

All the best,
Denis

I like a clean ( empty) eventviewer , using a task to clean it , one hour after every reboot .
This cleans the buggy id=1108 ( hundreds of them ) also , untill MS will fix it ..........finally !

Resolved the issue by doing a clean install. This version of windows seems to have a great deal of issues.

" a great deal of issues. "................indeed !
We have seen this in the past also , XP, Win7/8/10 , Win11 also.
No point , IF these bugs will be fixed soon , untill now the eventviewer is not important ( for MS) anymore .......... :grrr:

I always wait 2 months before any upgrade. When 22H2 says it is okay to download on my system, I will still wait 1-2 months. Been that way over the years.

Installed immediately on release of 22H2, always been that way for every Windows release since 8.0 Released, Fun fact on release day of 8.0 woke up at 4:30am, paid for it, did my clean install, and got all my critical software in, then went back to sleep happy.

It would drive me nuts waiting knowing an update is released, and ready for install
