I have done a bit of searching on the forum about this, but can't seem to find anything related to my specific problem. Earlier today my machine updated itself from 23H2 to 24H2. Under 23H2 I had 5 happily working mapped network drives linked to my WD Cloud NAS. All those connections were lost after the update lost and 24H2 will not accept what are the correct credentials for reconnecting to them. I have read elsewhere that this an issue with 24H2, but have been unable to find a workaround. I have now reverted back to 23H2 and blocked 24H2 from reinstalling, but obviously that's not a long term solution. So is there a way of making 24H2 accept mapped network drives? TIA

Very possibly have the same problem.
After updating to 24H2....I can 'see' my network device (in this case MOODE)
Trying to open it gives : "Windows cannot access \\MOODE "

Right clicking doesn't show 'properties' ....if that helps!

Any help much appreciated....please!!

I my case, I can see and open the MYCLOUD NAS in my network, but 24H2 will not allow mapped drives to any of it's shared folders.

Yes. Here is how I corrected mapped network shares with Windows 11 24H2 errors:

* Disconnect existing network mapped drive.
* Restart Windows 11 24H2 (breaks locked authenticating drives from update).
* Run SFC /SCANNOW to make sure no corruption is found.
* Re-connect network mapped drive(s).

I had many Windows 11 24H2 experiencing network mapped drives not accessible and it is very irritating.

@Nipdawg Thank you so much! That has worked for me. I just tried it on a second machine that's running 24H2 and it worked a dream. I'm going to leave the original machine on 23H2 until I absolutely have to let it update, but at least I now know how to get over the issue.

.....tried that....doesn't work for me!!
Just to clarify....as I'm getting confused here with the word 'mapped'
The network drive I'm referring to....is just found when I plug it in....I haven't gone through a 'map network drive' process.
Does this change things???

@MisterKevster In File Explorer, right click on This PC on the left. You will then see a list of options, including "Map Network Drive". If you take that, a box will open where you can select a drive letter from those available and underneath you enter the address of the shared folder on your NAS. In your case this would be \\MOODE\ followed by the shared folder name you want to assign. When you click finish, you will be prompted for the password in the user credentials of your NAS. You can then repeat the process for other shared folders, but you won't have to enter the password again.

So....is it the case that....following update to 24H2....I now MUST use the 'Map Network Drive' option?
Prior to the update....I didn't need to do this.....now it's a requirement???
Thanks for your patience...I'm easily confused!!!

ALSO......I don't have a NAS....and am clueless as to what my credentials might be.....aaaaggghhhhh!!!!!

@MisterKevster No problem...and so am I ! ...No, it's always been that way to easily access shared network drives going way back to XP and probably before. In my case, my previously set mapped drives stopped working after updating to 24H2. You can map a drive letter just to \\MOODE if you want to. It doesn't necessarily need to be addressed to any specific shared folder(s)

"Windows cannot access \\MOODE "

I have also found that if you previously used passwordless accounts for network sharing, this will cause the problem you experienced with the network sharing. You need to setup passwords on those user accounts. Then go in to Advanced Network Sharing under All Network section to enable the "Password protected sharing" option now. Reconnect the network shares back.

Windows 11 24H2 seems to recently enforced the ban of using passwordless user account sharing where you now need to use passwords.

On the MOODE computer, make sure the user account has a password. Then check the Advanced Network Settings under All Networks to make sure "Password protecting sharing" is enabled. If you have correctly shared the folders on MOODE computer, these shares should connect.

If you browse to \\MOODE, the shared folders should appear if set up correctly.

In the past...I haven't actually 'setup' any folders in Moode......
I have 4 x USB drives plugged into RaspberryPi(Running Moode)....
Until now....browsing to MOODE (as a network share on PC....see my pic).....allowed me to see/access all four drives as separate 'shares'
Hope I've used the correct terminology there:-)

I gave up on trying to fix the network drive mapping. Ended up rolling back to 23H2 and everything worked. Happy camper for the time being.

The weird thing is I just got a new laptop and it correctly mapped to my server right out to the box with 24H2.

on your 24h2 machine, did you try going to Turn Features On/Off and enabling SMB 1.0?
