I've had this problem for 2 weeks. I've tried almost everything online to fix it, but nothing works. A USB storage device keeps coming and going.

I tried unplugging the USB device from my computer and it still happened. I've uninstalled this device from Device Manager a few times, but it came back in a few seconds. I updated the windows, it didn't help. Please if anyone knows how to fix it, please help me.

I had another problem and I don't know if it has any connection, but I can't burn a CD/DVD and I get the error: 0x8007048F. No advice on the Internet worked.

You are my last change to fix my Windows.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

It would be helpful if you would tell us what kind of usb device this is.
Change usb ports. If it is plugged into a front port, move it to the back. If it is plugged into a usb3 port, plug into usb2. See if the problem moves with the device.
I haad this issue once using a ssd in an external usb enclosure. Trouble turned out to be the enclosure.

What does this mean. The title of this thread says mass storage. What usb devices do you have plugged in? Any camera cards? Any external drives? ANYTHING except your mouse and keyboard. What makes you think it's a mass storage device if you don't know what it is.

This happened without "any" reason

There is always/obviously a reason.
Can I suggest you find someone with another PC and try the “USB Storage Device” in it.

You haven’t really said much, what is the “USB Storage Device” is it a thumb drive? s it an external drive in a casing?
Do any messages show when you plug it in?

If it’s an external drive;

It could be the USB cable
It could be the casing
It could be a damaged drive

Does it have a drive letter assigned when you can see it in Disk Management?
Are there still partitions on the drive or does it say “Unallocated”?

  • Press the Windows + R keyboard shortcut to bring up the run window.
  • In the pop-up window, type (or click this and it will copy so you can paste it) msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic and click OK.
  • After that, the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter will appear. You need to click the Next button to start issue detection and repair.

I ask you to take the time to try your USB Storage Device in a different computer because; If it works on the other computer then it means there is a problem with your computer.

If it doesn’t work in a different computer, then you either have a problem with:
A faulty USB cable
A damaged casing
A damaged drive

If it does work in a different computer, you either have a problem with:
Your motherboards USB ports
Your Windows installation
The drivers.

If it does work on a different computer, try the following on your computer:
