Ok, I'll double check and see if it, indeed, installed.....if you note my OP, one of the blatant issues we noticed was quite slow startup, restart, and shutdown times, and prior to that this machine was blazing quick during Boot cycles. Here, let me help you ...
(Straight to the source, wouldn't want to give advice that might require a second opinion ...)
There are periods of time where I might not even fire this machine up- say 7-15 days.
It depends on workload.....we run a mechanical engineering and graphics consulting service (private consulting and design).....we do NOT, nor have any desire to, participate in any gaming whatsoever.
This machine has no issues running the AutoCAD, Finite Element Modelling, Stress Analysis, and Graphics Design programs we use.
So, here's my deal with Windows Update- in an attempt to get WU set to where it will show me what Updates are available (so we can research prior for perceived issues), and allow me to choose when to download and install at my will, we chased some settings/policies in Gpedit.....we thought we figured it out, but WU refused to adhere to the set policies.....off the top of my head I cannot reference the aforementioned policies/settings now.
As mentioned above, we need to head over to Shawn Brink's tutorials and dig around....we never had the WU issues on our prior OS, Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64.
Thanks for your input!
