Everytime I search this pops up locks my screen I can get out CTL ALT DEL
I hit continue it wants me to pay $400U.S.D A year
I believe windowds defender is good security correct? DO I NEED THIS MC AFEE STUFF

That particular one looks like a browser hijack. You should do a scan with Malwarebytes free.

Right click the Chrome icon in the Taskbar and close all instances of Chrome.
In Chrome go to the 3 lines in the top right choose Settings\Reset Settings\Restore Settings to original defaults\Reset Settings

Hey TT, as was explained to you in this thread, that is a scam. MC Afee

Do not communicate with these people. Do not give them any of your financial information. DO NOT allow them remote access to your computer. If you already have allowed someone remote access, you will need to completely reinstall windows if you allowed the scammers into your machine. You have absolutely no way of knowing what they did. If you gave them any financial information, contact your financial institution immediately.

The same suggestions would apply this time.
Clear browser cache, cookies, and history. Then restart the computer. I believe you use Chrome.

Scan with Malwarebytes. This installs the 14 day free trial of MWS. After 14 days, it automatically reverts to the free version. In the meantime, you may see popups trying to get you to buy MWB. I've seen enough of those scammer payback videos on YouTube (the ones where they deliberately troll scammers and even infect their computers) to know that this isn't coming from McAfee - or even the United States for that matter.

No AV software can stop these scams 100%. You can get them from going to fishy websites or clicking on ads. I have had 2 of my little old ladies get such a scam by clicking on ads on Facebook. My husband got one from an ad on MSN.com. You have to be careful what sites you go to and stay away from ads.
Go to legitimate sites only if you want to buy something.

It seems you should install MalwareBytes Browser Guard extension. If this isn't enough to stop ads, then also use uBlock Origin or uBlock Origin Lite.

By you browsing to dodgy web sites, and clicking on things, "They" (hackers, not Microsoft) installed a Google Chrome Extension. This extension brings up all the popups. If you close Chrome and use any other browser, or just run apps on your computer (ie) Notepad, Word, Adobe Reader etc with no browser open, you will not see any popups.
The issue is, if you follow the instructions in the popup to call the phone number, an Agent (saying they are but really are not From Microsoft) will ask to take over your computer and then install a virus and tell you that you need to pay them money for them to remove the virus for you.

All you have to do is to Reset Google Chrome to Defaults as aligned in Post #3, just a few clicks. This will remove all McAfee Popups and any other popups, It is just a few clicks.

Be aware where you browse on the internet, try to stay away from those sites, and if this happens again, you will know what to do.

If all else fails you can try Malwarebytes Adwcleaner. Also agree with installing Malwarebytes Browser Guard. It will help keep you out of trouble if you stray to a web site where you shouldn't be.
