Media Creation Tool question

OS Build 24H2 26100.2454 Has the MCT been updated recently? I already have a usb stick I created in the last month or two. I wanted to redownload if any of the recent updates have been added. If not, I'll use the one I have and hopefully I can get the updates through Win Updates. This is for another build clean, install not, this one. Thanks!

Either way will work.
MS updates the ISOs on a regular basis, but I'd guess they only do it about every 2-3 months.



On a side note... this is how you find out the version of an ISO image...




dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:N:\sources\install.wim

dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:N:\sources\install.esd


dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:N:\sources\install.wim /index:1

dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:N:\sources\install.esd /index:1

I did a clean install on a Notebook 2 weeks ago and got Version 23H2, After it did all the updates and rebooted then rechecked it got the 24H2 Version, been working since.

The version I have now on my USB stick is 24H2 so I'll just use it again Thanks!

The MCTs are based on Build(26100.2033) - 8th October 2024

You can use Windows Powershell to calculate the SHA-256 checksum for a file.
- Open Windows Powershell.
- Type Get-FileHash followed by a space.
- Drag the downloaded ISO file onto the Windows Powershell window after the Get-FileHash command.
- Press Enter.
- Compare the calculated hash value with the original hash value.

Update to my reply at #4: Just did another Notebook using a new USB build from MCT for a clean install, after the updates have Version 24H2 Build 26100.2314.

Remember that you can always easily inject the latest updates into an image yourself. I cn provide a batch file that will do this for you or you could use my WIM Tools utility to do this for you. Of course, you can always use UUP as another alternative.

I'm not sure what a batch file is. If it's pretty much fool-proof I could try that. I don't have a backup image if that's needed. I'm replacing motherboard, processor, and Ram. Thanks!
