Came home to find Microsoft 365 trying to configure itself. System was idle for some seven hours prior. I did not initiate this setup. I have never used this package, but I know it came with the system when new. Is this part of MS December 365 push?

How long have you had the system? The version that you got with your system is probably a trial version. It might be that you have gone longer than the trial version was specified (like 3 months or so) to run and it just auto installed as a "convenience" and it will require you to pay to get a license in order to use it.

If you don't want to use MS 365, I would just uninstall it and be done with it. If you do, then just pay the $$ for it.

I don't believe that it came with an update although the latest service pack, if you want to call it that, gave me the option to configure MS 365. Since I already have it, I declined. Could it be that you accidentally mis-clicked or did not decline?

Yeah, I found it pretty disgusting, but used to MS doing things for my "benefit".

No extraneous clicks. Wasn't even home when it started. Yes, the version was a factory installed trial version and the system is well over a year old now. I have declined previous offers to pay for it and don't use it (still using Office2000 Professional), but this is the first time it has gone beyond asking if I want to set it up and actually starting the process. I'm pretty sure it's part of the December push MS is doing, but was looking for confirmation from someone else.

Well, I installed a update twice this month (6th and 7th) and have not seen any push for MS 365, ever. I am running Windows 11 Home 23H2, Build 22631.2792, on a HP laptop. I use a copy of Office 2007 on my W10 and W11 machines. For Chrome, I am up to date with version 119.0.6045.2 00.
