Microsoft finally officially confirms it's killing Windows Control Panel sometime soon

Won't miss the old CP in the slightest. I find the Settings Applet is fairly easy to use. If I cannot remember where a specific setting/feature is the search box is my friend.

After they've moved everything to Settings, there's no need to kill off Control Panel, just leave it hidden from public view unless you're willing to go and find it. Ultimately everything in Control Panel would linked back to the function in Settings, no harm, no foul

What he said.

I never tried WinaeroTweaker and would like to know how it would help.
I haven't used Winaero much but I really like the export feature so I can (finally ...) align settings across my various systems.

Has anyone compared Winaero Tweaker with other tweaking programs? Is there one that has all the settings (and more) of others? Or is it more complicated, where you use different programs for different settings?

"many of the settings in Control Panel are in the process of being migrated to the Settings app"

Wasn’t that the plan all along?
2 observations
1. Neowin is still full of itself.
2. Microsoft still doesn’t know if it’s coming or going.

If this is true, my bet is MS are finding it harder to remove some old control panel stuff as is more integrated than the new developer kiddiwinks think.

I bet the guys who really knew the ins and outs of control panel have long since retired (cue film Space Cowboys lol).

There is still a lot of things that I have to do with the Control Panel that I can't do either as easily or at all with Settings. I guess that somebody will have to create a Control Panel (Classic) for people to add to Windows 11. Or has somebody already done this?
Open Shell pretty much does this now. Hopefully they'll update it when necessary.

Yeah, just hide it for those who don't want it or see it

And then have the ability to un-hide it for those that do.

The best of both worlds for everybody.
I agree! I see no advantage to MS totally removing Control Panel. If one doesn't want to use it, don't use it. It's not like it's always in your face.

I love this guy, and such a pleasure to read even when I might not agree with him
I just started reading the article and got as far as what he posted about cars. The functions of driving a car should be as easy and less distracting as possible. Just think about how many people have been hurt or killed because the drivers were distracted by their cell phones. Now we will have to include thing such as for example tuning the radio or setting the temperature controls.
