Microsoft Photos App New Update

What a piece of brown cake they made! They tried to mimic the ACDSee filmstrip. They ruined all my expectations. Why did they bring the navigation to the bottom of the app UI?!!!

s1.png

God, God, God damn it...
g3.gif

The new navigation bar has made the image view portion smaller, It has also made it harder for me to use the app, as my mouse movement and muscle memory have to do more work.
Please, please, please... move this bar to its original place (on the app's toolbar).

BTW. I like the new Filmstrip design.

What a cool and perfect blurry effect. It's my taste: simple, clean, blurry and very gentle. The app's name?

O! It forces you to pay if you want the blurry version (Store app, XML-based). I changed my mind. What an ugly, unattractive and imperfect app. It's not my taste: ugly, crap, cluttered.

But! I like these (on portable win32 version):

Very well engineered and crafted!

Another O! One of my fellow nationals has designed a Fluent theme for it!

It's a very nice, sophisticated application!
Powerful yet lightweight, a host of options and, yes, plenty of eye candy!
The RC 9 version can be buggy but, will soon go to release under IG Kobe.

I clicked on your link and went to the Store Apps link. Then came back and went for its Git (free) version.

The only thing that bothered me was such "System Requirements" (I had to install ".Net Desktop Runtime 8"). I hate this list (my installed VCs):

My love, love, pure love... exactly MacOS, except for that rubbish blue title bar! Probably the Store version doesn't have it. Even, the curvy content of the app is more lovely than the app itself. But I doubt they are delivered by the app, I think I have to pay for them.

You must run a lot of old software!
Can you guess what they are for? No! They are for Adobe (Ps, Ai installation requirements!).

Change your accent color.
I know, I mean this XML-type one that is harmonized/uniformed with the app's body! Win32 apps can't have this type of title bar.

Ahhh! (y)

I still prefer Win32 frames, I often 'Roll up' windows..., can't do that with Appx frames..., well, I can but they get all distorted and look stupid! 🤷‍♂️

AFAIK, a user can implement many customization features in their AppManifest, even on the user side, while Win32 is more limited (they have to be implemented from the developer side with more limited features).

I wouldn't know about all that...,
this is just a simple hotkey configuration to shrink the window frame to it's header... 🤷‍♂️

Rather than adding such rubbish, nonsense and useless features under the guise of AI, it would be better to focus on improving the current features. For instance, the startup time when opening large-sized images could be faster and more efficient. Even opening a small 14 KB image takes longer than seconds and has a turbo lag!!!

"Start slideshow" added to the right click (in Folder list):

The top priority of technology giants like Microsoft, Google, Adobe, IBM and ... has been to invest in AI :look:. IMO, this shift towards a new era could potentially have negative consequences for our destiny :woozy:.

Just another of their "essentials"
It is a result of Panos leaving the company. :plead:

Hi @Brink ,

Apology, but I think you can add these three features' (1. Blur/Bokeh, 2. Remove and 3. Replace background) tutorial, too. Since they've added them in this version.
