microsoft print to pdf with page selection from word does not work

In MS Word, of i use the print command and choose microsoft print to pdf printer and further choose a range of pages of my docx file, the result is a zero byte pdf file that will not open.

In powerpoint i can use this function and choose a range of slides

I have done a quick repair of the microsoft 365 suite too

I have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled the microsoft print to pdf from turn windows features on or off in the control panel

This happens only in word

save as pdf is fine but does not allow random selection of pages (only range allowed)

2nd - i would like to know what is going on

One more observation - I realize this is happening only to some document files. If i take the content and paste it to a new blank docx file, the select pages and print with microsoft print to pdf work. Wonder what could be wrong with these files because they do print as pdf as entire files

Simply, it's a Microsoft "app" that's not behaving the way it should. Another example of the reason for the popularity of 3rd party programs.

I suggest that you consider PDF24 Creator; it has a versatile rang of tools and is FREE!!

Works just fine for me with word 2007.

I had a docx file that had 39 pages and selected microsoft print to pdf then selected just pages 1, 15, 39 and the resulting PDF came out just fine with just those three pages in the resulting pdf.
