I don't follow you. I still have Copilot in Edge on both my 23H2 and my 24H2, and if I open Copilot in Edge and click the three dots, I find no terminating switch in Settings.
I also don't knkw what you mena by "using MS's own methods."

I have a suspicion only... that EDGE (among other things), is one MS's backdoors into Windows.
It does update quite a bit more often than other browsers... it seems to me.

When I opened Copilot in EDGE and clicked on the 3 dots , it took me into settings/apps. There I terminated it and after doing that I clicked on the uninstall that was at the bottom . This is in 26100.712.. I did not have to use any third party apps. If it ever comes back, I will use REVO Pro to remove it.

I think people are confused here, "copilot" itself is not the "harmless" app that is being discussed that is being removed. Co-Pilot is not going anywhere and will remain a component of Windows going forward.

Yes. The article is referring to RECALL.
But the author seems to be a bit confused.

At least I think so. Sometimes it's hard to tell with Microsoft.

Well whatever it is, I no longer have it. Recall may or may not find it's way to Windows 11 Pro, but it supposed to be only on Snapdragon CPU's but who knows??

Are you saying you would personally never use "co-pilot".......or the various co-pilot additional features like Recall (which BTW is on hold: https://www.theverge.com/2024/6/13/24178144/microsoft-windows-ai-recall-feature-delay)?

Co-Pilot itself can be quite useful........especially for coming up with a script for something and using a tool like powershell which you may not be experienced with.

For example, today I had a desire to take a file at work that contains a bunch of server names and strip out all of the server names,, so that I could run it through a test real quick to see which servers i could ping. Powershell isn't my strongest suite, so I turned to co-pilot.

I started with the following question.




That didn't give me exactly what I wanted, but it got me started. I asked a few more questions, and got closer.



Now, I was much closer to what I wanted but my strings still contained additional data that wasn't needed, that I had to strip out. My results looked like
- hostname: serverA
- hostname: serverB

I just wanted my output like
serverA
serverB

So, rephrased my question to co-pilot and got a replace string which was what I needed.




So in about 10 minutes time, I was able to get a script out of Co-Pilot which did what I needed, and I was able to tweak a few specifics to my exact scenario to get it working perfectly for me. I could have done a bunch of google searches and got my answers......but these results from Co-Pilot were ideal as they had the right content and the whole file....versus somebody from a forum who might have given me 1 part of the answer and left out a bunch of stuff.

Hi, Brian! Open your Edge browser, and you'll see the Copilot icon in the uppper right-hand corner. You can hide it in Edge Settings, but it's still there. It's a part of the OS now.

I'm on Win 11 V 3737 and i don't see copilot anywhere.
What happens if you ask copilot how to remove copilot?

yes I see that, the article refers to the Copilot app in the All apps list, I never had that one installed.

I'm not sure, but I think only those who have upgraded to 24H2 got that app in the apps list and on the taskbar. It had and uninstall button, so I uninstalled it. But I can't get rid of the one that's built in to the OS.

The Copilot app can be installed through Microsoft Edge:


Open the hamburger menu, scroll down to Apps. Click install app.

Copilot will be installed as a web app with its own window, that you can pin to your taskbar or Start menu.
