I cannot believe Microsoft is now changing their entire perspective on Copilot. Microsoft is extremely untrustworthy with what they are doing, saying, and now Copilot is for "entertainment" purposes after integrating this Copilot crap the past two years. I can see Microsoft's stock dropping more after wanting billions to open an AI data center with investors backing away from it.

These might be boilerplate disclaimers, but they kind of contradict the company's ads and marketing.

Someone told me that this may relate to Google/YouTube AI lawsuit, which I don't know anything about at the moment, and some behind-the-scenes AI lawsuits that should be coming out soon. I am not sure what they were talking about, but they said AI just got slammed very hard and companies are quickly changing the direction on AI. I don't use AI, so I do not know all the details.

Course I don't really trust any AI source for truly important info. It's only as good as the human sources that feed it's information and some AI is misinformed with skewed training data, flawed algorithms, critical bias and prejudices. An AI phenomenon known as "hallucination" apparently.

This goes back to the old gopher days of the Internet.

I only see AI somewhat reliable just as if you were searching on a question or problem. Copilot just adds Microsoft's crap to make it biased. AI will never provide a human answer.

Gemini Suicide Lawsuit (March 2026): Google was sued regarding allegations that its Gemini chatbot played a role in a man's suicide.

I suppose that's enough to make Microsoft declare that Copilot isn't meant to be taken (too) seriously.

Even when MS was claiming Copilot was the greatest thing since sliced bread, I was already thinking...
Copilot has entertainment value and not much else.

Amazon UK have completely moved their whole customer services over to AI
AI just runs you around in circles when it doesn't understand a simple thing
such as, i need a label to make a return.
there is now no customer service number so no access to a human being just AI.

i closed my Amazon account

Yeah, "entertainment purposes". It was very "entertaining" to discover that it'd updated itself yesterday morning and suddenly the option to disable it in Startup Apps was gone (it was there before the update), it was ignoring both its own in-app option to disable it and the registry edit to disable it, and it had begun launching an instance of mscopilot_proxy every time I opened Task Manager if one didn't already exist. Uninstalling the app curbed that behavior.

Oh god. I had to get in touch with customer service over the holidays, had an issue with a package. Getting through the chatbot to actually talk to a real person was sooooooo much fun.

The copilot ads are ridiculous. One common ad shows two persons in a financial notification and one person asks copilot to find a way of selling an item under a certain price and copilot analyses data and suggests a solution.
The asker gets a suggestion in seconds.

In a major firm, pricing is a complex function of material supply and demand, quality, staff costs/availabilty, component purchase contracts etc.

Major companies have massive relational databases with security layers/access authorities. Corruption of said data could wipe a company out.

Just how is copilot going to examine all the factors involved? Any computerised solution is only as good as the data input (GIGO - garbage in, garbage out).

All this crap about copilot helping with presentations is laughable.

Presentations are not about how pretty a presentation but about a robust presentation of facts in a clear and concise manner.

I guess Copilot could help if the presenter is a numptie but their data woukd be so disorganised anyway.

Imagine Shakespeare had used Copilot lol. I actually tested it on a scene from Hamlet (out damned spot), asking it to summarise that scene. The end result was comically inaccurate and completely destroyed the gravitas of the scene.

The more sinister part of this so called MS announcement is that it equally applies to all other Artificial Idiocy systems!

Growing pains. One thing I can state with confidence is that AI isn't about to go away. I'm quite certain some of those algorithms can be quite entertaining. I have little doubt that all those disruptions caused by erroneous updates appeal to some folks in a fashion that could also translate to "entertainment". There is precious little that can be argued against the notion that the average Windows end user is the merchandise that MS seeks to utilize and doubtless those notions could also be entertaining to some. Only a corporation of substance has the clout to take another corporation to court. We, the plebs, are powerless. Once the dust settles and the way is clear again it will be bizz-nizz as usual and those powers that should NOT be will once again entertain themselves with notions of turning people into profit with their money machines. AI has revolutionized the stock market already. There is no returning to the past.

CoPIlot can be very useful but it just makes up answers quite often so use it at your peril. It's important to frame questions carefully with full information. All these so called 'AIs' are based on neural networks trained on data having unknown veracity. The decison rules learned by such self training are opaque and the 'AI' is unable to explain its decison process in the event of errors.

Nothing really changed since Copilot was first introduced three years ago.

Five previous versions of its Terms of Use all included very similar wording:

9. No Guarantees; No Representations or Warranties; Indemnification by You. We plan to continue to develop and improve the Online Services, but we make no guarantees or promises about how the Online Services operate or that they will function as intended. The Online Services are for entertainment purposes; the Online Services are not error-free, may not work as expected and may generate incorrect information. Thing is MS never had to answer to any individual for anything EVER. As I stated earlier, only a corporation can take out a corporation. Sure. Microsoft has had to pay some annoying fines in its day but these are merely growing pains, operating expenses per se. Even if you pay you don't get to play until you agree to the EULA. That is the deal and it has always been the deal. How very entertaining indeed.
