OS
Windows 11
I have an old surface pro 6 that I use for basically 2 programs, Notion and Drawboard PDF.
Drawboard PDF when open takes up at least 4gb ram out of the 7.9gb available and really laggy just opening File Explorer. I have it plugged in on Best Performance mode.

I thinking of nuking the current Win11 install and use Chris Titus's microwin + surface drivers (Download Surface Pro 6 Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center) afterwards.

Any recommendations/suggestions?

From what I have seen, Chris Titus's microwin removes the applications that is normally installed.
From the point of performance, if a application isn't loaded it just take some drive space.
Normally I do a cleanup of startup programs and applications after a clean install. The first thing I remove is Onedrive and disable some services.
In other words, I don't think Chris Titus's microwin will increase performance.

so, would it be better to do a clean install using MS's surface pro iso and then just uninstall unneeded apps?

AFAIK it's just the standard Win 11 ISO (nothing special for SPro 6)

I'd use Rufus to cre4ate the boot USB, making sure byou tick all the options to remove MS security bells-and whistles

Install without the internet connected, create local account.

Then use RevoUninstaller to uninstall all the unwanted "apps"

As I wrote before, app only takes drive space.
Make sure that after the clean install you disable whatever is loading on start. Use Ctrl+Shift+Esc to run task manager

Yeh, but can be important on some SurfacePro models with minimal drive capacity
