I have missing icons on apps and when I try to uninstall the apps they don't uninstall. I'm also missing the microsoft store icon - pics below. I tried to repair with scannow and with an ISO of windows but was unsuccessful. How can I fix these issues?

I think you need to describe more about this problem.
Assuming you are referring to the Settings, Apps list please say what happens when you try to uninstall an entry.
And I think it would also be worth naming the apps you are getting this problem with.

I know nothing about the Start menu. Perhaps there's a tutorial about it.

Perhaps, but I can only speculate, there are shortcuts to them in
Start menu - CurrentUser
C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
or in
Start menu - All users
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
so you can remove their Start menu entries just by deleting those shortcuts.

You can just paste those paths in the File explorer address bar & it will take you straight there in each case.

Welcome to ElevenForum.

It's really worth making time to browse through the ElevenForum Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every ElevenForum page [within the Tutorials dropdown list].
- At the foot of the ElevenForum Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
- I download a new copy each month.
- By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
- ElevenForum tutorials are also listed at Tutorials and there's a shortcut to that at the top of every page.

You can search ElevenForum using the search box in the top-right corner of all ElevenForum webpages or using Advanced Search - ElevenForum
- You can also search ElevenForum threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:elevenforum.com after your search term. For example,
Taskbar setup site:elevenforum.com
- [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of ElevenForum webpages does automatically]

Appreciate it but in using both paths I couldnt find the shortcuts to those apps there. Do you have other suggestions?

The

I tried this and the only icon on the start menu that returned was the ms store icon. I'm still missing other icons like whatsapp, windows backup, and other icons. What can I do about those?

Some items can't BE uninstalled. Like that stupid: "Get Started".
Personally, when I want to uninstall a Windows App, or anything for that matter, I use REVO Uninstaller (free).
It has a "Scan" button that will remove all the leftovers.

Image1.webp

1. Highlight whatever you want to uninstall.
2. Click the Uninstall button (top center).
3. Then click the "scan" button, and remove whatever it finds.

Things that are partially uninstalled, may need to be re-installed before uninstalling//Scan-ing them with REVO.

For example, I removed some Windows Apps...

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I still have icons to apps on my start menu that are missing. For example, the 'recents items' shortcut icon on my start menu has a generic icon, its not the true icon with which its associated. I used a 3rd party app to get rid of stuff in order to clean up junk from my PC and thats when this problem ensued. What do i do???

How do I remove 'get started' from the start menu? I dont want the program entirely removed cuz that will cause problems in windows. Instead I want to remove it from the start menu. The problem is that the shortcut is not found in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu. And it comes up as an missing icon on the start menu. What do you suggest?

The problem is that the shortcut is not found in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
or the current user Start menu [post #5 above]?

Take a look at
Remove 'Get Started'
