Missing info when using Windows Photo app

Hello,

When using Windows Photo app for Windows 11, I can't find any information anymore neither about the set sensitivity (in ISO), nor about the shooting time (like 1/10 second), nor the aperture. This information is available in the images and is also used and displayed by other apps and was used by the preceding version of the Windows Photo app for Windows 10.

This is really extremely annoying in a photo app.

What can I do to get sensitivity, shooting time and aperture displayed again - like in the previous version.

Thanks for this advice. I do have quite a few other photo apps like DXO, Luminar etc., I would prefer to use the Windows Photo app just for a first look at images. Is it technically impossible to make infos on ISO, aperture etc. reappear in the Windows Photo 11 app?

After you open a photo, click on 3 dots, then file info. Does the metadata show there?
Back last fall the insiders got a new photo app but I never did hear what the outcome was to their testing of it.

Thanks. No, what you see on the image attached is seen as info if you click on info..

It may depend on the device used to shoot the image...,
then, it also depends on how you are viewing the image after the fact.
If you've exported or emailed yourself the image, most of the metadata should show...,
if you've simply plugged your device into the PC and are viewing the image via External Folder, it may not show all data...

Thanks for this interesting idea, unfortunately it doesn't show up even on an internal drive (see attachment). Device info is completely missing in comparison to your picture.

Can you replicate the problem on different User Profile?
You can create a new user profile if you have not already done so. Try logging onto the other profile, and open Photo App from the new profile.
Does the new user profile solve the issue, or does it replicate the problem?

If the above workaround replicates the problem, then you could try to repair or reset the app by following this Eleven Forum tutorial:

I get device info in the Photos app if the photo has the metadata (some don't).

Even if the photo has the metadata, most often the device info is not shown.

What device was used for your initial pic?
Some devices may have more data enabled than others...,
some may have none or very little...

That info is available in the "Photos" app, but you'll have to drill for it (click hamburger dots, click "File Info"). It will then stick until you close the app. But as you've seen it is not available upon first click (opening of the app).

And yeah, if you want extensive metadata info look elsewhere. I only use the Photos app as a quick viewer.

Thanks, this ist what I did. The full exif data showed up with prior versions of the photo app.

Thanks, Edwin. My device are Olympus cameras. Their information showed up in the past, but not any longer with the Windows 11 version of the photo app. I was wondering whether there might be some hacks allowing to view this data again.

Have you looked to see if there's a codec pack from Olympus? I had to get a codec pack for my Nikon D850 under Windows 10, and now Windows 11 to get my Nikon NEF (RAW) files to be seen in Windows Explorer.

Anyway, if you have DXO, or Adobe Bridge (now free) simply use it for your metadata. I manage my photo images though Adobe Lightroom and Bridge. I just use the Photos app as a quick viewer when I need to see an image.

I do have quite a few apps for working with pictures like DXO, Luminar, Topaz and the information is shown everywhere (except the Photos app). But these apps aren't as comfortable like Photos just to have a first look at your photos. I usually decide within Photos what to do with the images recorded: delete, remove high ISO noise (with DXO) etc.

I just open a photos folder and in file explorer use the Details pane for info.
