Solved MS Camera Cannot Be Found (Solved, in a way)

I will skip the lengthy reasons why I tried to install the MS Camera app on my wife's Dell XPS8950, which only somewhat worked. I downloaded the file from the store and ran it, bu then when I tired to open it I was informed that it could not be found. A quick search for that malady said that antivirus programs could cause this. As my Windows11 25H2 shows that it is System Mechanic which handles this. Having not tried for sometime to disable System Mechanic, I found the instructions on-line from IOLO, which are apparently out of date, as none of the steps could be found. Giving up, I turned the program off and tried again to find the camera.

That search did not locate the camera, which other source(s) showed that it was installed, I restarted the computer and as it was time to log on here, you may notice that that was accomplished, so I am now seeking guidance on now to remove the lens cap, as it were, for the MS Camera.

As is my wont, I am stating my appreciation in advance, lest I forget to so do once the malady has been overcome.

That is not what I wrote, or at least meant to: The camera is somewhere on my wife's computer, which cannot find it; it is here as I downloaded it from the MS Store.

Windows may be having a problem locating the camera itself.

Go to Device Manager.

At the very top of the list, click on the computer name.

Click on Action in the toolbar, and select "Scan for hardware changes"

Thank you for your easy-to-follow instructions, which unfortunately did not help. After trying them, I spent some time seeing if I might be able to figure anything out; the answer is simply no. For example, Ctrl-I, then "camera" inserted at the top of the page sent me to "Privacy & Security > Camera", where I was told that the camera is on. I have not the slightest idea where it is on, despite even the MS Store telling me that it is installed.

Windows instructions are, per the usual, wrong, but I eventually found the Indexer, which indexed 15,004 items, among which was not "Camera."

I missed an important clue to your issue.

The Dell XPS 8950 is a tower desktop system, and does not come with a built-in camera, like a laptop does.

You would have to purchase an external USB camera such as the ones Logitech makes, in order to have a camera on that system.

I was not looking for a built-in camera, I was downloading the MS Store camera, which apparently does not work with the XPS, at least not with ours. Yesterday, I found a way to get rid of the Store record of my downloading the app, so I tried again. Instantly, the same very large warning or whatever appeared. Equally instantly I gave up trying.

I have a new replacement Pixel10Pro which I am going to enable today, then use its camera to take a picture of a speed test as one of the items the router company asked for as part of their figuring out why light number 3 of the 5 lights on the router has turned off. Without number 3, our download speed is perhaps one-half of what it ought to be.
