Solved MS Word!

Hi,

A few of my word documents never show under Start > Recommended though are indexed in MS Off > Word?

Is it possible cause they were transferred from an earlier version of MS off to Off 2021 Pro?

Any thoughts why?

Only files that have recently been viewed would show up.
What happens when you click on File Explorer in the taskbar and it shows Recent Files?

On File Explorer they show all, but under Recommended only those which are created using Off 2021, not those transferred from an earlier version of MS off to this laptop.

Did you open the file? Recent files will only show files you recently opened.

Yes I have 2 files opened, both show in File Explorer but under recommended only the one created using Off 2021.

In the Recommended section, click the > More arrow to view more files.
You can remove some or all of the files in the Recommended section so more recent files will be up front if you like

I don't see More in the Recommended section......is cause I have W11 Home vs Pro?

Only the off 2021 created document is showing, not 2 others from earlier Off versions.

Did you edit them or merely open them & have a look at their contents without changing anything?
Try editing them to see if it makes a difference.

Are you trying to remove recommended items? If so, simply right click and click "Remove from list"

Edited to say, it won't delete the file, just removes it from the "Recommended" list. And it doesn't matter if you have Home or Pro for that.

No difference even if I edit the earlier version Word. Only those created in 2021 show up.
Tried copy paste to a new blank documents of 2021, after deleting the earlier but still the same.

No, not trying to remove. The old word document transferred won't show in Recommended...

Maybe something to do with indexing....

So, then you're trying to get documents to show there? If so, the only way I've got it to work is to open the document a few times - two on three times. That works for me as I just tested it.

That said, if you have "Word" pinned to your taskbar, you can simply right click it and it'll show your most recent Word docs in a jump list. In fact, you can do this with any Office (even non-Office) item/s pinned to the Taskbar.

I did try but wont appear, the ones created in 2021 appear instantly, so do other non off docs, like notepad notes, pics, vlc files.
