Multiple open windows in taskbar

My taskbar is showing every window I have opened in a session. There can be as many as 30 document labels on the taskbar which are of no use as they all show the same short description. How can I stop this. Good job there's a shortcut to desktop on the taskbar. Thanks

That is the release version so in native Windows there is no option for "never combined" mode. It defaults to combined. Are you running some 3rd party app that affects the GUI such as Explorer Patcher, Start11, StartIsBack, Open Shell? If so, there would be a setting within the app to combine or not combine.
