On Feb 9 posted a thread where I updated to Windows 11 on my unsupported Laptop.
It has been doing great so I decided to upgrade my unsupported PC to Windows 11.

It is an older ASUS PC I built and it did not go well.

Dism scan said it was Repairable and it look half done.

I did a Dism Restore Health and it looked good after.

I ran into some errors with a couple Asus programs.
Ai Suit 3 and Asus Fan Control.
It was a driver problem but I was unable to restore properly
It would not let me remove the programs or update them.

I did not try all my programs but decided to go back to Windows 10 as I did not want to waste my time on trying every program.
Will probably get a new system in the future and then go to Windows 11 or Windows 12.

I still have Windows 11 on my Laptop and use it to learn Windows 11.

It was Real and Fun, but not Real Fun.

Jim

Make sure you keep a full backup of Windows 10 (I would prefer to clone the disk on a spare disk). Then update all drivers before upgrading to Windows 11. Disable ALL startup applications and any third party antivirus/antimalware before running Setup to make sure nothing will interfere and screw the upgrade. Disconnect from the internet to avoid any hidden online compatibility check during the upgrade. Replace the file appraiserres.dll with an empty dummy (or use a Rufus created USB flash drive) to bypass compatibility check. After the upgrade is complete you may reconnect to the internet. Hopefully since you have already updated all your drivers before upgrading, Windows Update should not try to replace anything and should not screw it again.
