No need for two Macrium backups. One that check the image is enough.
Yes, MCT will make a Win 11 installation drive of 24h2. On same page you have the link to download the iso file
Please read the tutorial I had sent the link. It is all there. Don't forget to disable AV other than MS

I've been getting ISOs from there for years.

It takes quite a while to build the ISO, though.

Probably a lot faster to just use the Media Creation Tool and get a vanilla ISO direct from Microsoft.

Sure.

But would you get the latest release version that way? (I believe that Microsoft doesn't tell you what build you're getting. I find that mildly annoying.)

If it's not the latest, additional time would be needed for Windows Update to supply the latest.

Once the UUPDump is started, no additional user intervention is required. I let it run in the background.

Windows update is a ton faster than the several hours building the ISO image from UUP, but it's not my time.

I just used the Media Creation Tool and let Windows automatically update it.

Different strokes for different folks. While Microsoft manages to screw up regularly, adding another variable to the build isn't in my playbook unless it's necessary. Since my hardware was all new, there was no issue of Win11 comparability with the hardware.

Not an hour ago, I just did an In-Place upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
Worked like a charm.

Don't be afraid. As others have suggested, make a system image, then go for it. If the upgrade fails, the system should roll back to 10, no harm, no foul. If by some chance it doesn't roll back, you can restore the image. If worse comes to worst you can clean install.
What I do suggest you also do is to verify that all of Win10 files are in their proper place before upgrading.
Open a command prompt as administrator and type
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
When complete run sfc /scannow

I haven't timed it, but on my hardware, it's more like half an hour.

I guess that sort of thing might color the experience.

That's building the ISO, but it's still not installed, you have to go through that the same as with any ISO image.

1) Turns out my Secure Boot State is Off as seen in msinfo32 and in the UEFI BIOS settings. I don't think it is required to be on to upgrade to Win 11. Can someone confirm this is true?
2) Since its off in the UEFI, I suspect that is the ASUS mobo default. Is there a reason to turn it on? If I turn in on in the UEFI BIOS settings, will I need to do anything else to properly boot to Secure Boot ON Mode?

here is a tip
if you didn't have time to create with uup, you can use MSDN versions of Windows which are updated by microsoft on my.visualstudio.com
if you don't have the subscription just search it's sha256.

It does not need to be on to install Windows 11.

I upgraded my wife's desktop from 10 pro to 11 pro today. I would have NEVER even thought of doing an "upgrade" back in the 95/98/XP days. But the upgrade experience going from 10 to 11 at work was smooth. And the change from 10 to 11 isn't massively substantial, IMHO.

I took a Macrium image of her machine before I started. The OS upgrade from the 24H2 ISO took less than 30 minutes. Only had 1 driver issue come up once I was in 11 (was for some RGB thing, but I have that squared away). Everything else seems to be working as expected.

I found today that I wasn't getting the option to upgrade to 11 via Windows update because I didn't have the TMP support enabled in my BIOS on my AMD chip, so technically my hardware didn't meet the requirements. But I got that solved quickly.
