My PNY flash drive is not listed in the Bios

I've got an ASUS Vivobook F1605V laptop. I plugged in a PNY Flash Drive and tried to boot from it. I went into the Bios and it was listed and I chose the PNY and I was successfully able to boot from it.

I just bought another flash drive, a PNY and I put Macrium Reflect 8 files on it and went into the Bios to see if I could boot from it but this drive was not listed in the Bios. I unplugged the drive and restarted the laptop but no, this drive is not listed in the Bios.

It is listed in My Computer and it does show up in Disk Management. This is strange.

What is going on?

You're probably gonna have to "rebuild" the Macrium bootable media, with a up-to-date base WIM.
When you click "build" in step #4, it will download the latest Windows PE 11 base WIM, and use that to build the USB bootable media.

If that doesn’t work, check that the boot setup is correct on the Macrium rescue media

What happens when you hit F12 on boot, is it in the options there?

I believe that for ASUS laptops either Esc or F8 brings up the Boot Menu.

Ghot- You’re probably right, I listen to AI. I do know some in the past, it was hitting the Esc multiple times on boot.

This worked great. Win PE boots much faster than Win Re ever did.

The video I posted that only goes for 42sec due to the start mark I suggested, shows Esc key.

Just for info - on ASUS laptops to get to BIOS and/or one time boot it's press and HOLD the ESC key down.

Good news and Bad news. I'm coming so close to pulling this off. I successfully created a new, updated Macrium Rescue Disk on my PNY flash drive. I pressed the Esc key during startup and it showed my PNY flash drive. I highlighted it and I successfully booted from it into the Macrium screen.

But sadly my external drive was not listed. I need to save my backup of my computer in a folder on my external D:\ drive.

Here is what I saw instead:

This PC

Network
OS:C
Macrium_PE(E:)
Boot(X:)

I can't save to any of those places. I need to save to my external D:\ drive.

When I closed down the program and went back into Windows, that stupid Windows was not even listing my D:\drive. It said that familiar Windows 11 crap of "The drive you just plugged in was not recognized."

It seems Windows 11 has a big problem with recognizing USB drives. I have already gone into Device Manager and I think I right-clicked on USB Root Hub 3.0 and chose uninstall and then restarted my computer. I did this once in the past recently, but Windows keeps doing this error. I'm using a USB Hub too.

Is there a way to permanently fix this?

If I can fix this missing drive not showing up in Macrium, I think the backup itself will work.

No it doesn’t.
I have never had an issue with this and any threads started about USB drives not being recognisable, usually result in an error with the USB itself.
I have at least 12 ISO images on 32GB USB drives and an external USB Hub that holds 4 1TB SSD’s that are all listed in the BIOS, Disk Management *& File Explorer.
I also have 2 Hasleo Recovery Media flash drives that are recognised in all the above mentioned places.

Have you thoroughly checked the USB Drive?

It's all over the internet, the problem Windows 11 has with recognizing USB drives. Anyway, what I did is I plugged my external drive into a different port and I was able to successfully create a backup image with Macrium Reflect.

All I need to do now is test it to make sure I can do a successful recovery.

If I notice that error message that Windows puts up about not recognizing my external drive, I may have to ask for assistance. I don't want this to be a constant problem.
