$200 ? Are they looking for suckers? In that case I would open the laptop myself or pay another professional. Since it is out of Warranty, why send it to HP? Any qualified professional can do it. It is routine for them.

Should be quite easy if it’s a loose cable. Instructions to take the back off are similar to my HP Pavilion. I needed one of those guitar pick tools to ease the back off. Seemed hard at first but not if you start in the middle at the back between the hinges, then the rest loosens quite easily.

Although - the wire is probably behind the screen which is a bit more fiddly- more to dismantle.

If shove comes to push I would just go for an external cam. Logitech have a range from £30 to £90. Scroll down for model list.

Note -- from the events manager you can see what the physical device the camera is (the &ven stuff etc -- go to events manager) then you should be able to google for the device Windows thinks its seeing.

This app (from my old XP days but seems to work with any camera I've tried both internal laptop and external USB webcams. -- Amcap --even on W11
attaching zip file

if all else fails just get an external web cam -- beware though -- video has dramatically improved on even cheaper webcams - but often the sound quality is hideous if you are using these for zoom type meetings !!!!

Cheers
