..on new laptop, info below issue I'm having

My games are mostly on Steam and all run smoothly on my HP Pavilion Gaming computer, so I wanted to add/download just the game I am playing at present, to my new laptop, but it runs choppy, or jerky (don't know a better way to describe it). I've tried a couple of other games as well, same thing so it seems to be just the laptop.

Does anyone know what I might do, possibly need to change some settings etc.? I think my laptop has enough power games should run fine, but I am not totally sure about that. See Laptop info below :)

Two things to look into.
1. Are you on wifi? If so, try connecting ethernet cable and see if there is an improvement.
2. Since your laptop is not a gaming laptop, check the game settings and put them to low settings to make the game playable.

You didn't say you wanted to use it for gaming. An i7 would have been a wiser choice.

Hi Hs,

Thanks for replying. I only play puzzle games and HOG games so I don't know they are high end. The games I'm trying to play are from Steam, and specifically, The House of Da Vinci. I think they are called mechanical puzzle games. Also the Room Series. For Graphics how do I find info you need in my Win 11?

What games are you trying to play?
Yes, I should have listed them, I just play mechanical puzzles and right now playing The House of Da Vinci, 1 & now 2 in the series. They work great on my PC/Desktop. Specs below:

I use them for everything, but yes I should have mentioned I like to play my puzzle games. I get some from Big Fish, and some mechanical puzzle games from Steam. I don't know how to set the games on "low settings", and yes, I'm using Wifi because of location of my desk. I can't run a wire because of the rooms layout. I'd need a man to do it, and I don't have one handy ;-) I did read the the i5 was performing better than the i7, but I don't know if that included the graphics.

Ok, I found Game-Mode is turned on, on the new laptop. I think that must be default as I don't remember choosing it.

When was the last time you did a fresh install of windows? My pc, Ryzen9 with a RTX2070 super, began getting choppy in IRacing after an update. After a fresh install and getting it fully updated, again, it ran fine ever since.

This is a new laptop I got last weekend so new install, it just came with 11. My Win 10 PC plays the games fine, but not the laptop. Maybe it just isn't powerful enough, but I'm going to go pull up a Hidden object game and see how it works. I really think it is powerful enough, but that's just my gut instinct, not real knowledge. I think it's some sort of settings, but again, thinking and knowing are two different things right. Ok, no problem with HOG game from Big fish Game Manager.

It should play those 3D games,

"How is 11th Gen Intel Core i5 1135G7 for gaming
The performance of the Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 80EUs Graphics depends on a number of factors such as the configured TDP, Clock Speed, Cooling Solution, and RAM configuration. The integrated GPU greatly benefits from fast dual-channel memory. The real performance of the Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 80EUs is similar to that of the Mx230 in terms of gaming. This means 11th Gen Intel Core i5 1135G7 should be able to play titles such as GTA 5 at 60 FPS at (1366×768)."

Do you know what else I can do, or where to look to see what the issue might be then Fabler? I'm wondering if anyone else has had the issue, and I did ask the question on Steam but no replies from there yet

I didn't say run a wire to connect your laptop to the internet. We are trying to eliminate possible causes one at a time. You can bring your laptop closer to the router and test your game there using a wired connection. If that solves the problem, then you don't have to dig deeper. You just have to live with a choppy game if you can't run a wire.

Ok, I didn't even think of that, apologies. I'll try that now. I want to install Google Play on here so I can run some android games, some being the 3D. I'm wondering if they'd work better than the PC versions of the games?

Have you checked the power options and running it off the power brick?

Solved, I'm just using BlueStacks, way easy, and my android games run smoother than even the PC Games I've bought that were also 3D. Thanks for all the input though. Kind of funny because the fact Windows 11 was advertised as running Android Apps, was the main reason I started looking into Win 11. No biggie thanks to Bluestacks :)
